The nodding, scarlet red flowers of this hardy perennial resemble Gladiolus. The blooms are funnel shaped and borne on stiff stems above the green, sword shaped leaves. Puts on quite a show when planted in groups.

Do wild hungry animals enjoy this plant?

I have deer, rabbits, moles, voles, beavers, raccoons, opossums, Bobcats, bears, groundhogs, turtles, snakes, and the neighbor's cat in my yard. Would these plants be safe from the buffet table?

Hello, Tesa. You've got quite an eclectic mix of pests to deal with. The Crocosmia are usually rarely bothered by deer and other garden pests.

Hello, Paula. The 'Lucifer prefers to grow in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9. In Zone 10, the soil must remain moist and afternoon shade would be beneficial.
