Product Overview

A sport of Hosta 'Francee' with the same clumping form and sporty, dark green leaves but with wider, irregular margins. Tall, lavender flower spikes bloom in mid-summer about the bold foliage. The 18 in. tall x 24 in. wide plant is long-lived, reliable and easy to grow. For best foliage color, grow in moist, well drained, organically rich soil in partial to full shade; preferably with morning sun. The dramatic foliage fit's into the landscape well and can be used as a specimen by itself, to provide contrast within a group of other hosta, as a foundation plant, in the bed, or as an edging, or as an understory plant beneath large trees.

Are these bare root or established plants?

Are these bare root or established plants?
Asked by: Mary
Hi Mary, the Hosta are just emerging from dormancy. They are in a 1-gallon pot and are approximately 1 year old now. They're old enough to have a clump of foliage this year.

Can the Hosta plant live in Las Vegas?

Asked by: Kiki
Hi Kiki, the Hosta thrives in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4-8. Las Vegas, NV is in Zone 9A. This means that the plant would need special care to grow in your landscape, as its native habitat is moist, cool, shaded, "forestry" regions. The plant might survive in consistently moist (yet not wet) soil under a large shade tree with plenty of mulch to keep the roots cool. Direct sun is too hot and will burn the leaves and dry out the roots. Growing the Hosta in a pot in a shady location might be better. The container is portable and the heat and soil moisture is more easily controlled. Perhaps, you have a microclimate that is a bit more ideal than the hot desert.

Can I take plant inside during winter months

Asked by: TC
Hello, all Hosta will go dormant during the winter months, with the foliage dying back to the ground and then re-emerging next year. The plant can be taken inside (and should be housed in an unheated garage if there is a potential of the pot freezing solid) during the winter months, but the die-back cycle will continue whether inside or outside.

1 gal. Patriot Hosta Plant is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hostad They were smaller than I expected and was led to believe I could only but Hostsa online. Now they are in the store for a much cheaper price. I would have waited. Feel a little scammed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, hardy plant! I bought three of these about a year and a half ago and planted them in my back yard. I don't exactly have a green thumb and end up killing most of the plants I've owned over the years and was a bit worried about these hostas in the GA heat. They looked a little smaller the first year and obviously not that great during the winter, but ever since the weather warmed up they have more than doubled in size and look amazing! I've never watered them and they are planted and in full sun. Definitely recommend these and will be planting them around other areas of our house because of this great experience.
