My Hosts plant is turning yellow in the center and the center leaves are dying. We have had a lot of rain and frost.

What do you think is causing my leaves to dye?
Asked by: Sherry
Hello, thank you for your question. Hosta are extremely susceptible to excessive rainfall. Stunted slow growth with yellowing leaves is a symptom of overwatering, as the wet conditions cause nitrogen to leach out of the soil, starving the plant of its nutrients. If the new growth is dying at the same rate of the old leaves, this is a sure sign of overwatering. To combat the effects of too much moisture, try fertilizing with a slow release fertilizer. Regarding frost: Frost damage is usually seen on the leaf edges first; before the centers are affected. In this case, the leaves can just simply be cut off and new foliage will emerge.

1 gal. Patriot Hosta Plant is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hostad They were smaller than I expected and was led to believe I could only but Hostsa online. Now they are in the store for a much cheaper price. I would have waited. Feel a little scammed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, hardy plant! I bought three of these about a year and a half ago and planted them in my back yard. I don't exactly have a green thumb and end up killing most of the plants I've owned over the years and was a bit worried about these hostas in the GA heat. They looked a little smaller the first year and obviously not that great during the winter, but ever since the weather warmed up they have more than doubled in size and look amazing! I've never watered them and they are planted and in full sun. Definitely recommend these and will be planting them around other areas of our house because of this great experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Patriot Plantain Lily Excellent Customer Service prior to receiving these plants. Plants were shipped bare root and showed signs of leaf buds a week to ten days after planting. Clear easy to follow Instructions for planting included in box. Plants packed carefully and arrived in great condition. Will provide additional information as plant grows more. I am expecting great success based on the quality of the plants I received and the great condition they were in upon unpacking and planting.
