Questions & Answers

How long will it take for this plant to reach maturity?

Asked by: Lyle
Hello. The Ramapo Rhododendron is slow growing and it will take several years for the plant to achieve its mature height and width.

My neighbor accidently cut down my 10 year old rhododendron plants to base. . .wil they come back next year?

Asked by: Kimber
Thank you for your inquiry. The answer is "perhaps". Sometimes, for rejuvenation purposes, a Rhododendron is cut to about a 6 in. height, leaving just a trunk stub remaining. This is best done in early spring to allow for the longest recovery period. Fertilizing with a high phosphorus fertilizer will promote new growth. Soil must remain consistently moist throughout the first few re-growing years. A severely pruned Rhododendron is also susceptible to pest and disease.

Customer Reviews

1 gal. Ramapo Rhododendron Shrub is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead after 6 weeks They were way smaller than the other plants I bought at the same time, but some of the reviews had mentioned that and I didn't mind. All the other plants, planted at the same time, in the same general area, with the same conditions, are thriving -- but both of these Rhododendrons are... quite dead. I can provide pictures if you wish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller than expected but is accetable. Arrived on time in good condition. Blooms were beautiful and substantial. I missed the dwarf size in the description before ordering.
