  • Tolerant of clay soil and drought, once established
  • Leaves hold longer into autumn than those of other maple trees
  • 2 Gal. pot, ships in a pot unless state or federal regulations require otherwise

  • Tree ships as a bare root plant without pot and without soil when shipped to Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the shake and ship system will be used to remove soil from the roots, thus increasing the root tip surface area, which in turn, greatly enhances the ability of the plant to rapidly establish itself in the new environment

Customer Questions & Answers

To plant the tree, what kind of soil and fertilizer do I need?

Asked by: PiGuy
Howdy PiGuy, Maple trees grow in sandy or clayey soil types. As long as the texture stays loose and the soil depth allows the roots to anchor the tree to the site, the maple tree grows well. Most garden soils from the Home Depot will work. I usually recommend Kellogg garden soil because of the organic matter. As for fertilizer, I have had good results with Vigoro Tree, Shrub, and Evergreen Fertilizer:|THD|google|&mid=sNzC2GoVJ|dc_mtid_8903jx325196_pcrid_107016479248_pkw__pmt__product_203106436_slid_&gclid=CKng4_mLlM0CFU07gQodqVIFxQ Happy Growing, Coach Dave

2 Gal. Autumn Blaze Maple Tree is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not bother my tree was a small branch with broken branches, decayed leaves....I could have found a sapling in the backyard that better suited my purposes. Don't bother--I will need to return. Not worth the price

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The product was shipped promptly The trees I ordered were nothing more than a very small branch. I expected them to be more filled out. They are planted. I hope they will fill out more by this winter or I fear they will not survive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Autumn Blaze Maple Tree The tree arrived with the roots wrapped in plastic but they were dry. I planted because there was a note with it that said it was not dead. It's been in the ground and it has since dried up. Very disappointed. Will never buy from Home Depot again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Tree The tree, while small, had a good root structure, and immediately showed positive signs of a healthy condition. The leaves were upright, and I expect it will continue to thrive. It was shipped in a timely manner, in good condition. Am looking forward to the red leaves this fall.
