Customer Questions & Answers

What is the history of these plants? i've been told is an 'old fashion' plant and only rarely seen . Mine is the only one I have ever seen.

Asked by: gramie
My neighbor has one and that is how I found out about it. His is about 15 years old and has such beautiful flowers in the spring. I think I read somewhere that they came over from Japan but not sure when.

HOW FAST DOES THIS PLANT GROW?

HOW HIGH DOES IT GROW? What care/food do we need to help it grow healthy?
Asked by: consumerally
It is an arching, somewhat spreading bush, up to 5' x 5'. Moderately fast growing with bright yellow blooms in spring. Deciduous, with bare stems in winter which have a greenish yellow hue. I've got mine in a row in front of a row of Ever Red Lorapetalum which is an evergreen with deep purple leaves throughout winter. Looks great and should fill in my foundation planting area nicely in a few years. Should not need much care, although check your PH for slightly acid soil which it needs. Place with other plants liking acid soil < 6.5pH. Keep moist and mulched.

How well could the Japanese kerria survive in a zone 4 climate?

Asked by: Goon
Hello, Goon. The Kerria is hardy in USDA plant zones 4-9 so it should grow fine in your area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time to Order Plants I tried to order this plant in the spring and they were out but asked if I wanted to be put on the e-mail list for when it became available again. I did and on the first of September here came the e-mail. I admit, I was still VERY hesitant; I've never ordered plants to be shipped to me from anyone. However, I really wanted this plant and haven't been able to find it locally, even though it's recommended for our area. Home Depot's price beat the other on-line shippers I could find. I asked for standard shipping, and although the lead time was longer, the plant itself shipped overnight.. It arrived green and moist and intact. It was a little smaller than I anticipated for a 2 gallon plant, but it appeared very healthy -- which for me, is more important . It has been in the ground for 2 weeks and is doing well so far... no lost leaves or other signs of transplant shock. Since two weeks is still a pretty short time to determine if it's viable, I will update this if anything changes. If there's no update you can assume it's doing well.

They are thriving as I write this review! I felt in my have been risky to order a live plant this way but it was handled with great care and packaged in such a way as to totally protect the plant. Once I opened the package I was convinced I had made the right decision purchasing these from the Home Depot online! Excellent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great online plants! First time ordering plants online at HD, so I was a bit skeptical. However the plants were packaged extremely well and arrived quickly and without any damage at all. In this day and age of "less is more" I was impressed by the quality of the packing and the health of the plants. You will pay for this service, but worth it if you find a plant you cannot find in the store.
