Answer:
Hello, the Variegated Willow can be pruned as needed in late winter/early spring to encourage more vigorous growth and to control plant size. Prune minimally if a larger wild shrub with arching branches is desired.

Answer:
Hello, JC. This shrub ships as a potted plant when the destination address is in Pennsylvania. About a month ago, the plants were pruned to a height of 12-15" to promote lateral branching. They are just emerging from dormancy now so they are not yet fully foliaged.

2 Gal. Variegated Willow Shrub is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Addition To Our Yard The Salix Integra Hakuro Nishiki is a fantastic shrub. I got ours several years ago as a nearly dead 6 inch twig (I have a knack for bringing plants back from near dead) and now "he" is HUMONGOUS! These shrubs are extremely hardy and incredibly beautiful. They have a very graceful stature and add a lot of color to any landscape. They do require a decent amount of water. I water "Nishiki" every day throughout the summer to avoid any wilting that will inevitably occur. They are a willow, and willows like their water. I've been informed that most Nishiki stop having pink leaves after a year or two, but mine is still covered in brilliant pink leaves (in addition to the green ones) summer after summer. I thinks this is thanks to regular trimming of "suckers", as well as regular watering. I prefer the free form of this shrub rather than a structured trimming. Mine is wild and wooly and we absolutely love it. I'm going to get two more to flank the sides of our driveway! I highly recommend buying a Nishiki of your own if you want to add a beautiful splash of color and movement to your yard!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Double the size already I ordered 3 of these in 2015 and planted in early fall. They have doubled in size during spring 2016 and are displaying all the colors they are known for. I am very pleased with them. Two of the plants even bounced back from near death after my husband forgot to water them. They were between 1 and 2 ft tall and wide whenI received them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong Willow While the plant is very robust and grown about three feet, it is not variegated. From it's growth, I'm thinking it will be closer to tree size and won't fit where I planted. Without the color there isn't anything interesting about the plant and will probably get the axe if nothing changes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good Overly pruned. I purchased 22 of these and received 22 pots of dirt with a few 8 inch branches sticking out. Not worth anywhere near the $750 I spent. Taking them back to the store for refund

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful shrub - great addition to garden Some shrubs had to be replaced in my garden. I purchased a doppled willow at Home Depot in April. It is a most attractive shrub with variegated leaf and full foliage - a joy to behold. Easy to see it is very health stock, and if one is looking to get nice variety in their garden, this is a good choice.
