  • Glossy, Blue Green Leaves with Spiny Toothed Margins
  • Attractive Red Berries in Fall and Winter
  • Easy to Grow in Average Soil and a Sunny Site
Female, evergreen shrub with dense, lustrous, blue-green, leathery leaves. Tiny, white flowers are produced in spring and, with a male Ilex meserveae 'Blue Prince' nearby, sets a profusion of bright red berries from fall through winter, attracting birds and other animals (are toxic to humans). Broadly pyramidal, tightly foliaged, shrubby habit. Easily pruned. Plant in full or partial sun in somewhat moist, well drained soil, and within 75 ft. of the male. Use as a single specimen or as a dense hedge. Provides a dark backdrop for white or silver colored plants.
  • Best fruiting holly available
  • One of the best blue hollies
  • Profusion of bright red berries fall thru winter
  • Attracts birds and wildlife
  • 2 gal. ships in pot unless state or federal regulations require otherwise
  • We're sorry, but due to state regulations, this plant cannot be shipped to Arizona
  • This plant ships as a bare root plant with no soil and no pot when shipped to California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the Shake&Shipsystem will be used to remove soil from the roots, thus increasing the root tip surface area, which in turn, greatly enhances the ability of the plant to rapidly establish itself in the new environment
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 4 to 8, when grown in other Zones, special care requirements will be required
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 8 ft. away from other plants or structures
  • May ship in a dormant state where winter color is not as bold as summer hues

I just purchased this plant. It has three tiny red round berries. Is it a female or a male?

Asked by: Maria
If your holy bush is producing fruit it is definitely a female plant.

Can I use this shrub to make boarder along the side of my house?

Wanted to use the shrubs instead of a fence.
Asked by: sister
Hello, Sister. Yes, the shrub can be used to create a living border. It will grow rather large over time, with its 8' tall & wide mature size. The shrub can be trimmed to a desired size. It would be best to prune in each year in early spring.

Can I get 3 to 4 ft blue princess holly?

Would like to start with larger bushes instead of waiting for them to grow

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty We bought several small princess (female) and one larger prince (male) shrubs last year. They are doing well. My only regret is not buying larger princess shrubs as mine are still quite small. Leaves are glossy green and the red berries are pretty although not all produced berries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Storebought Got one from the Home Depot store down the street for about $5. It has held up for the few weeks I've planted it in the ground, and I expect it to last for a long time :3 Very cute shrub, so many holly berries on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue Princess Holly The holly plants arrived in a package full of protective material. The plants looked good and were healthy. They were trimmed for shipping purposes. I would have rather that they weren't trimmed but that's ok. I planted them right away and they seem to be doing great. I planted them in a row along my property line with the intention that they will grow into a privacy screen in a few years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shrubs The two plants we ordered were received very quickly and were ready to plant.. They were packed very well and it would have been hard for them to suffer any damage. The two plants looks very healthy and attractive. I recommend purchase of plants through Home Depot. In fact, I believe these might have been in better shape at a good price as similar plan ts at my local Home Depot.
