Customer Questions & Answers

Is this sold as a mature plant or a bareroot?

Asked by: cait7lin
Thank you for your inquiry. The Karl Rosenfield Peony is about a year old with about 3-4 upright stems. It is not a bare root plant. It ships in a 2-gallon pot when sent to New York.

2 gal. Karl Rosenfield Peony Plant is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The plant was strong and sturdy and healthy looking. I did not have any luck trying to grow this plant from the root sold in the package, so I was happy that this plant was avalable for purchase. The plant is doing well so far. Since it is pass bloom period I am looking forward to next year's bloom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller than expected and a little travel shocked, but worked out great! This peony arrived with another that I ordered and both were smaller than expected in the 2 gal pot. I'm thinking that was a blessing in disguise, however, because they were a bit sickly when I received them. Both suffered from wilt and broken leaves most likely from too long of travel time and inadequate packaging. I removed the plastic from around the pots and watered immediately. I let them "breathe" for a few days in a half sunny, half shade location. Once they perked up, I planted them. Although a bit tiny for the price, in my opinion, they look great now. I dug holes about 2 times larger than pots, filled holes up to top with water and let drain, then mixed good planting topsoil with existing dirt and then planted. I made wells around each with dirt and then watered thoroughly. They look great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I am not satisfied with this product. I received two almost dead peony plants on 8/31 with bareroot and no soil around root. I tried barerooted plants before. They were not working on me. From this product description, I thought I will get these plants with 2 gallon container(soil around the root). The plants are very costly. I won't buy them again.
