Questions & Answers

i have had this shrub for 13 years, it looks dry branches and possibly diseased. it still gad some leaf oarts that look healthy. is there something

There are parts of the shrub that look healthy but main stems look unhealthy.and rotted Should it be pruned or is there something we can use to save it?
Asked by: teri
Hello, Teri. Unfortunately, we don't have a suggestion for a miraculous recovery of your plant. When the summer foliage declines and branch die-back occurs, those particular areas can be pruned off. However, when the main trunk becomes unhealthy and damaged, allowing for pests and disease to take advantage of the plant's compromised situation, it usually results in reduced vigor. Weakened plants usually then succumb to harsh winters.

How do I move and or propagate the andromeda shrub?

Asked by: Sherry
Thank you for your inquiry. To move and transplant the Andromeda shrub, water the plant well for a few days prior to digging around the plant to capture as much of the root ball as possible, but no less than 12 in. diameter. Plant in a new location by digging a hole 2-3 times the size of the root ball. Place the shrub at ground level and back fill, firmly pushing soil to fill hole. Water thoroughly and consistently throughout the first growing season.

Customer Reviews

2 gal. Mountain Fire Andromeda Shrub is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from very small plants. so not a good value The plants arrived on time, perfectly packaged and healthy. My complaint is that usually plants in 2 gallon containers are much larger than the ones I received. I ordered 5 plants, and the largest of them was only about 12" high. I should have spent twice the cost at my local nursery and would have then received plants that were three times as large. A bit disappointing.
