Product Overview

The 'Bing' cherry is considered the tastiest of the sweet red cherries and is the most famous commercial variety. The smooth, glossy skins of the fruit are a deep garnet color and the inside flesh is firm and juicy. The cherries form in clusters along the branches for fast and easy picking.

  • Perfect for eating fresh or for jams and jellies
  • Most popular sweet cherry
  • Cross pollinate with 'Montmorency' or 'Rainier' cherry
  • Requires 900 chill hours of a winter temperature below 45 deg F
  • Tree is grown in a 5 gal. pot and is approximately 3 ft. - 4 ft. tall after planting in ground
  • 1 gal. ships in pot unless state or federal regulations require otherwise
  • We're sorry, due to state or federal regulations, this plant cannot be shipped to Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah or Washington
  • Plant ships as a bare root plant with no soil and no pot when shipped to Montana and Nevada
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the Shake&Ship system will be used to remove soil from the roots, thus increasing the root tip surface area, which in turn, greatly enhances the ability of the plant to rapidly establish itself in the new environment
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 15 ft. away from other plants or structures
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 4 to 8, when grown in other zones, special care will be necessary

Customer Questions & Answers

What is the guarantee on these cherry trees.

What happens if and when the cherry tree dies, If it does not live after it is planted and taken care of for the first year. Do you guarantee it to live??? Or is it just too bad for the one who purchases the plant??
Asked by: Biggie
I received some information from Home Depot that said Live Plants are good for a year. I bought this one based on that notice. After I had bought it, I called Home Depot,On their 800 Number, and finally I was told I could return it up to 90 days. So I really don't know what the guarantee is. I do know that at most other places the Live plants are guaranteed to live, or they will be replaced. "Limbo is the Answer I guess"

How tall is the Cherry tree when shipped? Does it need a pollinator?

Asked by: Emily
This tree is up to 4 ft. tall above ground when you first get it. You will need to cross pollinate this tree with a 'Montmorency' or 'Rainier' cherry tree.

Will a cherry tree dp well in Mississippi

Asked by: john
Hello, John. The 'Bing cherry needs a substantial number of chill hours (consistent temperatures below 45 deg) to produce fruit. The climate of Mississippi usually does not provide this long cold period.

When will this be able to produce ?

Asked by: VJ
Hello, the Bing Cherry is about 3-4 years old right now. While a few cherries may be produced this year, it will take a few more years before larger yields are seen, as the tree will need to establish itself in its new environment first.

Customer Reviews

5 gal. Bing Cherry Fruit Tree is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY SMALL, BRANCHLESS, POOR CONDITION Paid $50 for a very small, branchless stick with a few leaves of it in, a bucket that I can't see measuring 5 gallons. This was not at all what was portrayed or what I expected. Very disappointed and would not recommend this purcahse to anyone.
