Product Overview

A striking accent tree for a spectacular spring flower display. Reddish purple blooms appear before the dark green leaves emerge in mid spring. An ornamentally beautiful, small tree for small spaces.

  • Wonderful as a front yard specimen or for the center of a perennial garden
  • Late bloom period limits frost damage to its delicate flowers
  • Occasionally will rebloom sporadically in summer
  • Low maintenance tree that grows best in well drained soils
  • Grown in a 5 gal. pot, ships as a bare root plant with no pot and no soil
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the Shake&Ship system will be used to remove soil from the roots, thus increasing the root tip surface area, which in turn, greatly enhances the ability of the plant to rapidly establish itself in the new environment
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 5 ft. away from other plants or structures
  • May ship in a dormant state, with bare branches and no leaves
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 5 to 8, when grown in other zones, special care will be necessary

How tall is this Ann Magnolia? How thick is the trunk?

Asked by: GregC
Thank you for your inquiry. The Ann Magnolia trunk diameter is a little over an inch when measured about 4 inches from the soil. The plant branches out from this point with several upright branches that are about 3/4 in. diameter. Right now, the tree is about 30 in. tall from the soil line, not including the pot or roots.

does this tree perform well in secondary water

I have secondary water. I live in Riverton. my water comes from Utah lake. The soil is alkaline
Asked by: Rosa
Thank you for your question. Our concern rests with the alkaline soil, the pink Ann Magnolia prefers acidic soil that is moist but well drained. Secondary water should not be an issue.
