  • Made of durable hardened steel for lasting performance

Customer Questions & Answers

It says it doesn't use a drill but the video shows it in a drill???

We need a product that we do not use a drill to extract the stripped screw. Any suggestions?
Asked by: Techperson
A drill is definitely necessary. Must have the power to drill and burr so extractor can grip the sides of the screw to back it out.

Works with all types of screws?

Product Overview lists specific head design for screws it can remove. Should I be concerned with the fact that torx screws aren't listed among all the others?
Asked by: Eddie
Works best on Phillips screws but can also be used for flat tip, you just have to be extra cautious and take it slower.

Customer Reviews

Speed Out Screw Extractor (4-Piece) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 149.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not durable at all I hardly ever write reviews but after using this product I don't want anyone to waste their money. I finally had a chance to use the speed out bits while building a table out of wood. It worked great on the first two screws that stripped out. On the third one, while trying to back the screw out, the bit head broke completely off inside the screw head. If this product was made more durable I would definitely recommend it. However, the quality of these bits is cheap and it should not have broken the third time using it. Until this product is made better, save your money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for drywall screws, apparently Picked this up in the store. "Removes any screw or bolt" is written on the package. Inside, in the instructions, it says "not recommended for drywall screws." Nowhere does it say this on the outside of the package. I gave it a shot on my stripped drywall screw but got nowhere. If the product doesn't work with one of the most common types of screws, that should be mentioned on the packaging so customers can see it before buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked for the most part I had two screws to remove. On the first, I did not have much luck with the drill side of the bit (maybe I was doing something wrong, but I think I used a regular drill bit instead), but the extractor side grabbed & the screw came out, yea! On the second which was a brass screw in iron threads (holding down a drain cover), I was unsuccessful using either side (too soft?) and eventually used a hammer drill with a throw away bit (i.e. a broken bit, which being shorter was unlikely to break again) and it finally blew out the bad screw, fortunately leaving the threads intact.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't get it to work. I couldn’t get this to work. I followed the directions by using the drill bit side first to create a nice cavity. Then I flipped it over and used the extractor bit but it would not grab the broken screw. This might work better for a larger screw than the one I had (I was using the smallest bit). I ended up using a regular drill bit to drill out the screw. Maybe when or if I have something larger break, I will try this set again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth it I broke two bits on very light work. First one broke removing screw from a plastic handrail on a hospital bed and the next one broke removing a screw from 5/8 plywood. I got my 20 yr old extractors and a drill bit and removed both. Thought this would save time at work. Waste of time and money

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for every application Definitely did not work for what I needed. Screw did not budge even a little. May work on screws stuck in wood but it didn't work for my screws stuck in metal. Home Depot had one in stock and on sale so I'm pretty sure they are going to drop this item from their inventory.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It just doesn't work This product claims you can get stripped screws out in seconds. I tried over an hour and could not. It just doesn't do what it claims. Don't waste your money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from does not work This item did not remove a single screw. I followed the instructions, even tried all of the sizes on at least 10 screws. Total waste of money and metal.
