Can I use a "sledge hammer" to pound into ground?

This question is from 1/2 in. - 5/8 in. Loop Stake (Pack of 10)
May 18, 2016
Some grounds are mixed with gravel so I need to hammer these with a lot pressure using a sledge hammer. Will the stake be able to withstand the poundage without bending? If not, is there a bigger orbit?

Answer:
jackOtrades808, the stakes won’t have any issue with the terrain, but they could bend if pounded too hard or with too big of a hammer. 1/2 in. - 5/8 in. Loop Stake (Pack of 10) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really a good deal for the money: I had a long electrical cord that I needed to make sure stayed close to the ground so that people didn't trip over it. Hammered these babies in and that cord isn't going anywhere. They are relatively thin, but strong enough to do the job. In addition, I needed to secure a small fountain/bird bath so that it wouldn't tip over in high winds or because feral cats jumped on it. I used bungie cords around the base of the fountain and these stakes to hold them down. Again, perfect for the purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for the price I purchased these stakes to help hold down my Christmas lawn figures (angels and deer) that were top heavy and fell over easily. These stakes were only about $2 for the package and did a great job of keeping these figurines upright even in moderate wind.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well except if ground is very hard Use these to keep your main drip lines underground. Will bend if you try to hammer them into very hard soil. They should be a little more heavy duty to handle that type of situation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice The only problem I had was living in Paulden, we grow rocks. Some were a little difficult to secure the irrigation hose because of the rocks below, but perseverance paid off. Nice length and able to endure using a hammer, most of the time, to secure.
