I am using the 1/2" pipe and Orbit 1/2" locking caps to make a weighted dumb bell for hand exercises after surgery. I need to know how much pipe I will be using so that I can weigh all the parts. Once that is done I will be able to determine how much "filler" I will need to place inside. I already assembled one end not realizing that once the cap is placed it is there for good.......Hmmmmm
I had previously never seen these type of caps before & thought they would be easier than stinky messy glue even though they cost 3x the price of a regular cap. However, considering the cost of glue, primer etc that I will never use up probably balances out the cap cost.
If I do it right, despite the initial error, I will have a customized unit that meets my personal requirements.

Answer:
It's difficult to say if depth is the internal dimension that the pipe would fit into ot the overall size of one of the dimensions. It would be best if you went into the store with you tape measure to get the exact for your project, then you can be absolutely positive.
In regards to you making your own dumbbells, have you considered using the PVC caps on the ends so that you can add/subtract sand?

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible seal Hoped to seal a sprinkler line with this. Right size, but water still leaks out. Plus it locks on so i cant replace the cap without buying a whole new pipe. Worthless August 6, 2016
