Answer:
Yes, it uses 2 "AA" batteries. I removed it and brought in the house and forgot to take the batteries out and it's still keeping time today on the same batteries I put in it last year. It is very dependable and I've had no problems all season last year.

Answer:
Each zone has only one duration setting (say 60 minutes) but the unit can run up to three cycles per day. You can't run two zones in the morning and the other two in the evening, nor can you run all four zones for 60 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening.

Answer:
Yes there is. You can set up indidividual watering times for each zones. I have mine set up with 3 zones. Zone 1 is for the water drip system for 60 minutes. I have 4 Melnor Pulsator Sprinklers with Zinc 2-Way Spikes around my yard. Two on Zone 2 and two on Zone 3 and each zone is set up for 30 minutes each.

There is one timer. It comes with two valves. You can purchase up to two more valves to use with this timer. The timer allows you to set the watering time for each valve separately. You can water up to four different areas with this timer.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I have had a Orbits ( 4 station ) for 6 years. The new one is much easier to program. The new Orbits 4station is so easy to program and set up. I've had 4stations set up in my back yard for 6 years now. I bought the new one because the valves on the old one where leaking and the screen was hard to read. It still works and I'll use it for 2stations out front. I was very pleased at the new programming format. It's very easy. I have good hoses running along the bricks in my flower beds and a few underground about 1inch to areas with no borders. This work great and I never have to move hoses or remember to turn the water on or off. March 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product; wish I discovered it earlier I bought 2 of these plus the extra valves - one for the front yard and one for the back yard. Simple programming and once you understand the product limitations, works like a dream. The key thing is that all stations have to follow the same day watering schedule but you can change the time on each station. I have 2 valves set up for watering the lawn and 2 set up for drip systems and once they are set up, you literally can forget about them. For a very low cost per setup(including the 2 extra valves), you are getting the majority of the benefits of an in -ground sprinkler system. Big time saver, efficient watering times. Plus, a 6 year warranty on a $50 product! Highly recommended June 2, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fair 2 season timer - would not recommend I had this timer set to water my modest vegetable garden and protected it from the elements. My Father and I trouble shot it when one valve stayed open and the other valve stayed shut and found that the central unit did not provide consistent voltages to cancel the magnet field of the neodymium magnet that controls the piston that close and opens the septum controlling water flow. I give it a fair rating for value as it lasted 2 garden seasons before failing and it was both very simple to program and affordable. I would not recommend this product for anything other than very light use. May 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! This is our second season using this. It is 4-zone and only comes with 2 zone hook-ups so be sure to pay the extra $$ and buy the 2 additional. We found this out after we got everything set up and were attaching hoses. Other than that it's very reliable and easy to use. You can set up multiple schedules so if you want to water 1/2 your yard on Monday and Wednesday and the other half on Tues, Thurs and Sat then you can! Just pop the battery out at the end of the season and store. Ours gets put right on top of the hoses in a rubbermaid tub. I would have given it 5 stars if it had all 4 zones included. May 25, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, but limited. I bought this timer for my front yard which only has two zones (I bought the four zone for future use). I tried it last night, and am returning it today (no fault to the product, I believe). I believe my zones are just too big for it to handle. Each zone is probably 10-12 spinklers. The timers just don't allow for enough water to move through to push the sprinklers up. I noticed last night, after I uninstalled the unit, that the outlets are not 100% open. They have a grid/ filter obscuring the opening to the sprinklers. I guess I could of drilled through it to open it up more, but just didn't feel like experimenting. If I had smaller zones, I would for sure buy this, and be happy. Maybe when I redo my front yard. April 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fair Warning I purchase this item at Home Depot after reading what I considered good reviews. Well I also thought that since this item is for outdoor use it would be somewhat weather proof. FAIR WARNING ... THIS ITEM IS NOT IN THE LEAST WEATHER PROOF! I set this timer up just before we went away to automatically water my vegetable garden. There was one rain storm that completely filled the control unit with water causing the water valve to remain open for many days. This device has totally destroyed my vegetable garden. As a result, the control unit was permanently destroyed as well. This unit is new and was only set up for three weeks when this happened. The water did not stop running until I turned it off with the valve manually. YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A FAIR WARNING. June 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good timer for up to 4 zones and three differnt time sets I do not have enough water pressure for all the areas that I need to water, back, front and vegetable garden. The unit was pretty easy to setup. It only comes with attachments for two zones. I had to purchase another. Home depot has the going price on the unit, but I found a better price for the additional attachment. Make sure you open the valves on the end to let the water flow. June 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Practical and easy way to water the lawn without looking This is replacing a similar unit I had used for the last 3 seasons. I made the mistake of not bringing in the controls for the winter and the old unit cracked. Easy installation, same unit, but updated - using the two new valves plus 2 that are 3 years old - compatible August 6, 2014
