Not sure what size to buy

The ID because the OD varies from hose to hose depending on the thickness of the hose it self.

joan, you will need either a 3/4" shank mender or a 5/8-3/4" zinc mender (Orbit 56687). Please feel free to contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156 if you have any other questions at all. Thanks!

5/8 in. Inline Male Metal Mender is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the best hose mender Would not recommend this product. Tightened it and every few days, it would loosen and eventually pop out. Ended up buying another hose..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks My hose had a sort of spine within that was found after cutting the hose. I cut it on both ends, please the clamps and put the coupler on. I tightened it well with a drill. Turned on the water, hose was leaking on the area I fixed. I turned off the water and tightened. Turned it back on and still a steady drip. Not sure how to make this work. It could be that the hose i was repairing had that sort of spine inside of it, i assume to prevent kinking. Regardless, I regret not just buying a hose after struggling with this failed repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy way to fix cut water hose. I had two 100' hoses with bad beds one was the bib side the other was the nozzle side. I cut both bad ends off and made a 200' hose. The only thing I would tell you is use some kind of lube in the hose and on the coupler. If it's cold out warm up the hose with a torch or hair dryer makes it a lot easier to install. I just put a snug turn on the clamps and tested it no leaks. Now I can bring the pressure washer all around the house without moving the hose to a different spigot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Suggestion In response to TimHBTR52, I would avoid the lube. If you heat a cup of water in the micro (or stove), soak the hose for 30 seconds or so, this will make the rubber pliable and installation easier.
