Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use an H78 on a McCulloch Pro Mac 55

Asked by: todd
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we have reached out to the manufacturer and their response is. "No – the correct Oregon part number for a 20” McCulloch Pro Mac 55 is D70 (or an E70 professional series chain). Either one will work".

Can I use an Oregon H78 and a D 70 on the same chainsaw? If so, why would I use one iver the other?

Asked by: ron
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to MFG for more information and below is their response. " The answer is no. Even though both chains are constructed to fit 20” saws, there are several differences including chain pitch, motor mount & drive links which prevents the two from being interchangeable. Each Oregon replacement chain is designed to meet the OEM specification "

What is the difference in the H78 and G78 chains? Can the H78 chain be use instead of the G78?

My chainsaw is a Craftsman model 358.350200 20" saw. the manufacturer shows the replacement chain as pt# 20BPX078G which I take is a G78 chain. I purchased a H78 chain that seems to be working good. The G78 was not in stock. I am happy with the way the G78 cuts. I just don't want to tear up the saw if there is any difference on the way it runs around the sprocket and bar.
Asked by: Jason98765
The specs look similar. The H78 and G78 are both .20", .050" gauge, .325" pitch, .with 78 links. The Oregon packaging lists different brand applications, but the specs look the same.
