Answer:
Do not mow for 2 day before the application of Ortho Nutsedge Killer for Lawns Ready to Use. This allows for good leaf surface for the product to be applied. Do not mow for 2 to 5 days after the application. If you mow too early after the application the product will not have a chance to work its way from the leaves to the rest of the plant.

Answer:
I have read that the active ingredient in this kills cool-season turfgrasses, which would typically include tall fescue. However, Ortho claims that it does not kill tall fescue on its website. I would trust Ortho since they explicitly say tall fescue is fine but just to be safe I would test a small area before applying broadly.

24 oz. Ready-to-Use Nutsedge Killer for Lawns is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS NUTSEDGE KILLER WORKS NUTSEDGE kept showing up in our lawn and weed and feed didn't seem to phase it. And I couldn't use Round-up because it would have killed my grass. Decided to try this product and it works! It is slow acting (takes about 7-10 days to see the nutsedge die; but it does the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Stuff Works Like the title says...this stuff works. I have a Midwest bluegrass/fescue mix lawn. This kills the nutsedge/nutgrass and doesn't harm the lawn. I have tried the other brands (which require mixing and don't give consistent results), and those packets that dissolve in water (which are expensive). This Ortho brand is ready mixed, just spray it on. You should see the plant start to yellow and die within a few days. For the more established nutgrass (wider blade), you may have to hit it again. If you have a lot of nutgrass, this bottle won't last long, so you may want to buy more than one. Wish Ortho would produce this in gallon bottles!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Killed Lawn in several places.... Used this product to knock my nutsedge back in several places, but it has killed the centipede in three places of main application. The only thing left is dead grass and bare dirt. Doesn't seem to hurt the bermuda that volunteers up though. Very disappointed because I was using another product that DIDN't kill my grass. May have to re-sod the three areas. Will be contacting customer service for help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Killed My Tall Fescue I spot sprayed my tall fescue in areas where yellow nutsedge was present. In every spot the tall fescue also died as if I had sprayed grass killer on it. I have tried this product several times over the last 2 years with the same results each time. I also have an irrigation system so lack of water is not an issue. The fescue was nice and green prior to the application and 100% dead afterwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great. The hose attachment type is 1.4 % active ingredient and the ready to use is 0.05. Thats 28 time more dilute. So if one uses 1/2 a cup (4 oz) of the hose product and adds 14 cups of water (14 x 8oz +112oz) it almost equals a gallon (128oz) of the ready to use concentration. I'm trying this at the moment in my pump sprayer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This KILLED my nutsedge In July, Day 1... At 6pm I sprayed the patches of nutsedge all over my front and backyard during 80 degree weather. 24 hours later, the previously green nutsedge was turning yellow/brown. On Day 3, it rained for 30 minutes, hopefully pushing the poison down into the dirt to kill the bulbs of the nutsedge, and there was more wilting and dying. On Day 5 before mowing the lawn, they were wilting and brown even more. AND this was all during days of 90 degree summer heat.... my grass was hardly damaged; there were two small patches probably where I sprayed a bit too much. On Day 7, after mowing you can barely see the nutsedge that is left. Now to be honest, I had the same results last year, but some still grew back. I guess it'll take a few years to get rid of it all. Good luck!
