Customer Questions & Answers

How long after you spray should you wait to water the grass?

Asked by: Evelez24
I would water your grass first, say the previous day, with lawn spray mix. Additional water after spraying can dilute the application.

is this safe to use on leafy vegetables like lettuces and spinach and how long do i have to wait after treating them to eat them,?

also is this safe to use on strawberries, zucchini, yellow squash, snow peas, cantaloupe and watermelon, and bell and banana peppers ?
Asked by: fred
The label states that it's safe for vegetable gardens. Still, I would look into products specifically made for gardens.

If it dries on the grass and my dogs eat grass would that be a problem?

My dogs love to eat grass if it dries and they eat it would it have any negative effects on them?
Asked by: Anthony
My dogs have not had a problem. However, Sevin spray is very effective for similar problems and it kills fleas. It has been used in powder form as flea powder.

Is this safe for a vegetable garden?

Asked by: BGVOL
The label should be read to verify; however, most sprays can be used on vegetables, but you should not each the vegetables until after 10-days. Be sure to wash them first. Reading the label is crucial.

I've used this for fleas, chinch bugs and I believe it even helped with our mosquito problem. I've used the spray and the granules. For fleas it does keep them away for months just as the directions say. Everyone said I would never get rid of the chinch bugs once you get them but I did. It's been two years and no return. I put this on using the granules in the spring and then spray though out the rest of the year. Never came back.

This product took what is normally a quick and easy task and made it into a nightmare. I use Bug B Gone granules on my lawn (using a spreader) with great results. However, there's a part on the back of the yard that requires me to use a hose-spray product. Usually, I use Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for this job, which was not on the shelves that day nor was there a place for it, so I'm not sure if Home Depot no longer carries. I like the fact that it contains different insecticides from the Ortho stuff I use, so they complement each other. It kills everything and it's easy to use. The next day you see dead bugs everywhere, and it also controls mosquitoes for a few days. I was very disappointed to not find the Bayer product. I had to get something, so I got the Ortho ready-to-spray instead. BIG MISTAKE. What should've been a few-minutes job took over an hour of messy spraying thanks to the poor design of the bottle. It leaked when used with the hose in the backyard, which is low-pressure, and it leaked like crazy on the hose in the front yard (had extra product left so decided to use it there, too). It sprayed all over me. It was a mess, and it was dark outside by the time I was done. NEVER AGAIN.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The bottle design is flawed! The product works well in getting rid of bugs from your lawn IF the bottle continues to work. The problem is many of the bottles suddenly stop working. I purchased 4 bottles from Home Depot. The first bottle worked fine. When I used the second bottle, it worked about 80% through then stopped working. The bottle still had 1/5th of liquid left inside, but the liquid stopped flowing through the nozzle. In fact, nothing came out of the nozzle including water, which told me that the spray system was defective. I tried the third bottle, and this time it stopped working at about 50%. Frustrated, I tried the last bottle. Water and pesticide came out of the nozzle. The problem was the pesticide was also leaking out because sealing was not done properly. I only got to use it for 5 minutes before the bottle was empty. I gave two stars because the product does what it claims to do when the bottle works. But more likely than not, the bottle will fail on you.

I could not crawl under the deck to get close to the house so I used a water hose to spray the distance and saturate the area. Worked for about 30 days then we noticed a large roach in our kitchen...darn. Will spray again and see how it goes?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sod worms Neighborhood lawns getting ate up by sod worms. My front yard was about at about 20%in patches. Little moths flew on waves as I walked thru the yard. Applied as directed to yard and sprayed under eves of house and around lights. No visible signs of worms or moths next day. Plan to re ally in 3months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more bagworms I had been getting bagworms on my arborvitae for the past couple of years. Decided to spray this product back in May and again in August, just to be sure. Well, no more bagworms! Very easy to use and seemed to be enough in one 32 oz. bottle to do my whole 1/4 acre.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes care of bugs in the yard I've noticed a lot of bug activity coming from the lawn when I mow. A lot of flying insects coming up from the lawn and some dead spots and yellowing. Using this Bug B Gon made a different in less than a week I'm seeing less activity and greening coming back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and easy to use This was recommended to me by a professional gardener, I however am a total novice in the garden. But I purchased it to find that it was simple to use and has helped my small garden to be rid of those bugs that ruin my flowers. I intend to use it regularly.
