Does this work against killing roaches and keeping them out of your hone????? I am DESPERATE

Asked by: Vanesss
Yes, it works wonderfully for roaches. I put it down in a roach infested house that I was about to rent and the next day I swept thousands of roaches up. Never seen another roach alive after that. It worked for years even after I swept and mopped.

It smells like someone is farting broccoli and cauliflower. I ran into my home and left my boyfriend outside. It is quite strong.

Can I use this next to fruiting vines and trees?

Have trouble with fire ants building mound in roots of muscadine/grape vines and apple trees. Normally use scalding water on lawn mounds, but it also kills vegetation.
Asked by: Pynblackcat
Yes, I used it around my fruit trees and grape vines with no problem to trees.

Used Ortho Orthene on about six or seven fire ant beds on my property and it worked wonderfully, from what i can tell. Unless the ants moved elsewhere. It is very simple to use and you don't have to water it in. I also have used it at a car wash in front of and on the sides a bit of a Dumpster we have. Ants have been gone now for several weeks and haven't returned to that location, even though there was no mound and i just sprinkled it along the edges of the Dumpster. Costs more than the other granules i used but they needed to be watered in. Urethane is easier to use and does wonders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The bomb My landlord sent exterminators out to spray for roaches, they started coming out more. It did absolutely nothing. My neighnor had them so bad and would not let the exterminators in so the roaches began to migrate to my unit. A friend told me about orthene I spread it around the baseboards and in the alley around the dumpster which is under my bedroom window. And "BOOM" It wiped out both units. I havent seen a roach in a year. This stuff will put exterminators out of business. I could get paid big time if I advertised to get rid of roaches. I could do a commercial in favor of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product on the market I live in North Texas on an acre lot without curbs and gutters, so every rain brings new colonies washing in from neighboring yards. Once the rains stop and colonies can be seen, I apply Orthene and the mounds are typically dead in 1-2 days with no follow up required. The only problem I have is finding Orthene in stores locally as the big boxes sell out quickly. I've been forced to buy other brands as a result and having to repeat treatments 2-3 times. Do the math, and Orthene is the better value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This seems to be the only product that works in 24 hours, the mound is dead. I live in the country and mounds pop up after a rain, this product works in 24 hours, the mound is full of holes and crumbles. Follow directions, does not take much. Use during their feeding times, I usually stir or kick just a little to get them out and about. This is one of the few non organic products I use. Pets seem to spot the white powder and stay away, they do not like fire ants either. I have tried them all!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this because I could not find the similar Bayer product I normally use in the store. Co... I bought this because I could not find the similar Bayer product I normally use in the store. Compared to the Bayer product this stuff is terrible. The Bayer product is easy to apply with the shaker top, kills the mound quickly, and has no smell. This stuff has no shaker top, has a terrible smell, and is far less effective. I hope HD will re-stock the Bayer or I will go somewhere that does.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ant Mover? I've used this product extensively, but I'm not so sure if it actually kills the ants, or just moves them. It seems a new mound pops up somewhere every time I use it. I suppose I will keep moving them until they go to the neighbors yard, because it's the best product I've found. I WILL tell you however, that this product kills St Augustine grass.

It is a bit pricey, I go though a lot of it on my 2 acre lot. Sometimes the ants move and another mound will pop up nearby. I think a two step approach is best if you can afford it. Step one broadcast poison or bait over entire yard. Step two treat mounds with Orthene.
