Customer Reviews

Weed B Gon 32 oz. Max Plus Ready-To-Spray Crabgrass Control is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 438.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste Of Money Purchased this after seeing online recommendations for dealing with creeping charlie. Applied to a relatively small front yard. Coverage more than adequate, no rain, and in the fall (as recommended). A week later and the weeds haven't even changed color. They don't even look stressed, much less dead. So I dumped a bunch of poison on my lawn for no net gain whatsoever. Attached photo shows the state after a week. In retrospect, I'd have been better off just to take a blowtorch to the whole thing and reseed. I'm not sure whether it just doesn't work or whether the product does not actually contain the ingredients it says, but this was a total waste of time and money. I'd give it a 0 if I could. Thumbs down, way down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ineffective Used based on web recommendations to deal with creeping charlie. Used in dry conditions, right in the middle of the target temperature range with more than adequate coverage. A week later and no effect whatsoever on any of the weeds, much less the creeping charlie. Which leads me to figure it's either not as effective as they say, or the product as provided did not have the proper ingredients and it's a QA issue. Either way, I'm stuck till next year since it's too late to just kill it off with Roundup or flame and replant. If I could give it zero stars, value and quality I would, so a one will have to suffice. If I decide to just kill it all next year I may just go with microclover or some lawn alternative and eschew this industry altogether.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Results South Texas winters are usually pretty mild. My Bermuda grass lawn goes dormant which gives the weeds a head start come early Spring. I sprayed this Weed-B-Gon on the front and side lawns. Clovers and broad leaf weeds died off within a few days. It had an effect on the established crabgrass but it did not kill them off. For the most part, this is a good product. My main complaint is that it doesn't cover as much area as the product states.

I have used the Weed B Gon hand pump sprayer for many years with good results. So I decided to try the hose end sprayer this time. It was so much faster and easier to use than the hand pump sprayer yet the results are the same... should have started using the hose end sprayer years ago. But you do need to be patient with this stuff. It takes about 3 weeks to kill clover, but it's worth it. I've never harmed my grass with Weed B Gon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from killed my sod I purchased 2 gallons and sprayed my sod very lightly. @ days later my sod turned brown and was dead. Called Scotts who is the parent company. They sent a replacement of cost of product which is what they cover. The total expense is way more than the $26 that I was refunded. The damage was in the hundreds of $ to replace the sod. Test in a small area if you are thinking of using this product. I would recommend buying something else

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product worked for me I purchased this product for crab grass control in August 2014. After reading the directions, I noticed it should be applied in the spring to control crab grass. I used the product anyways, and after a few days, 90% of the crabgrass show distress. Few days later, I applied second application. Now today (9 days after initial application) 90% of the crab grass is dead and new sprouts from my original turf are re-emerging through the dead crab grass. Just applied 3rd application, I imagine the rest of the crab grass will be dead in a few days. Only problem I have is it seems you can not open the container to combine the left over from the bottles for another application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gangbusters on crabgrass. Who doesn't have a problem with crabgrass? If you have a lawn to care for, and if you care how that lawn looks throughout the summer, you know what a hassle crabgrass is. Well, not to worry because Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Control can handle it. After my first application I saw the results: the crabgrass was curling up and dying by the end of the day. And no strong "weed killer" aroma either. That's a plus. The effectiveness of the product is really impressive, and I prefer it to the other anti-crabgrass products I've tried in the past because Scotts Weed B Gon Crabgrass Control Concentrate 2 gives impressive crabgrass control results and it doesn't leave my lawn smelling like a high school Chemistry Class experiment gone awry. So thank you, Scotts, for the opportunity to try this good and effective product. I'll certainly be buying it for summers to come. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible Purchased this to get a handle on crabgrass and spotted spurge. Followed directions to the letter, within a few days the crabgrass started to discolor but that was it. Then every spot of my lawnn that I applied this too is now brown and dead. So thanks for that Ortho.
