Customer Questions & Answers

Are the plates removable ?

need to know if it is easy to clean by removing the plates....
Asked by: Kat
The plates aren't removable, but they are very easy to clean as long as you use cooking spray, you just wipe them off with a damp rag.

Rotating Waffle Maker is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice machine BACKGROUND: My old waffle maker kicked the bucket so I was looking for a new one and glad to have the opportunity to try out the Oster rotating waffle maker. UNBOXING: A nice looking machine. "Shiny". Instruction booklet was clear and instructions were easy to read and follow. I was concerned that the drip tray wasn't big enough, so I put the waffle maker on a cooking pan just in case. OPERATION: Fairly simple to operate. Oil it up, plug it in, wait for the green light, fill it, close it, flip it, wait for the green light again, flip it back, open it up, pull out a steaming hot waffle. I used a pancake batter mix and made it a little thinner than the recipe because I like a lighter waffle. I also added two eggs and some oil to the 4 cups of batter to keep the waffles from pulling apart to easy, or sticking to the non-stick surface. First waffle I cooked was very slightly undercooked for my taste, so I turned the temperature up and kept cooking. I ended up with 9 waffles from the 24-30 pancake mixture. PRO: Quick. After initial heat up it took very little time to make a waffle. It cooked them quicker than I could eat them! PRO: Cooks well. Every waffle was nice and brown and cooked through. CON: Drip tray too small. As I feared the drips hit the edge of the tray and ran into, and off of, the tray. If the tray was a half inch bigger, and had a vertical lip instead of a flat lip there wouldn't have been any problem. SUMMARY: VERY pleased. I'm in the waffle business again:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underrated appliance! You know, I never really sat there and wished I had a waffle maker in my kitchen. Then I got this rotating waffle maker and I love it! Pretty good quality feel to the unit, evenly distributes the heat across the surface, letting the entire waffle cook evenly. Simply pour in the batter (easy to make yourself), close the lid, rotate, and let sit until the green light comes on. When you rotate it, it locks the lid shut. You can also adjust the settings just like a toaster. Handle folds in for easier storage in a standard cabinet. Very easy to clean. Ready to use right out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waffle Maker My husband and I received the waffle maker just in time for breakfast. We whipped up a tasty malt batter but had to stop and read the great little manual (with recipes) that came with the waffle maker. The machine is relatively easy to use and stores neatly flipped on its side. The handle folds up too and it has a removable drip tray. It's important to use cooking oil spray or a brush to coat the grill with oil so the waffles won't stick. Our first waffle came out a little light because we started on the minimum setting. Your waffles are only as good as your batter though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product The waffle maker was very easy to use. The directions are easy to understand. There is hardly any maintenance with this product. It even included different recipes in the book it came with. The clean was very easy. You just wipe it down, it comes with a drip tray that catches any extra batter that may drip. The waffle maker is very heavy duty. You don't have to worry about burning the waffles, there is a red light that turns to green when it is finished cooking. When you put the batter in, you rotate the iron, so it cooks evenly. Very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine If you need a basic waffle maker, this is your best bet. Pre-heat it, open it up, pour in your mix, rotate, and a short time later, you'll have waffles. Doesn't get any easier. Surface is non-stick and we made a batch of 5 or 6 without spraying the inside without any of them getting stuck - they popped right off. Build quality is OK and a drip tray is included, however, it could be a tad bigger. Overall, we're pretty content with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Will Love This, A Must Buy I am so excited to own this Oster Rotating Waffle Maker. Not only does it make evenly cooked waffles, it is easy to use, easy to clean, and just plain fun to make waffles. I used to own a regular waffle maker, so I have to say, I will never again go back after using this rotating waffle maker. You have to try this. My kids have had so much fun making their own waffles. You will love this!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waffle Maker As with any new appliance, part of liking and using it without issues is learning its quirks to figure out how long to cook it, when it seems ready, etc. The first waffle won't be your best and be sure to put something on it to "season" it ( like spray oil). What I like is how much thinner this is than my old clunky waffle maker. You can rotate it easily so it's really quite narrow to store in your cupboard without really taking up much space. I like the drip tray and the included recipes are great. I learned about the importance of cornstarch in "scratch" waffles from their instruction booklet and it's really not hard to use their recipes to make a good waffle.I really liked this booklet which is so much better than many that accompany small appliances. If you like waffles, you need this waffle maker. Also, I liked their instructions for keeping waffles warm & crisp in your oven if you're cooking for a crowd.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes Some Nice Waffles The only downside that I see is what others have pointed out, the drip tray is not large enough. Truth is that It would have to be pretty big to catch all the drips and runouts. The suggestion to put a baking sheet under it is really a good idea. I used a plastic cutting board. That is really the only negative but its really not much of one. It does take a little tweaking or trial and error to figure out what setting to set the it two. But that is the case with anything, ovens, pans, etc. I like that fact that there is an adjustment so you don't have to set up a timer to get consistent results. Cleaning is not bad if the waffle batter is not stuck in the griddle nooks. So remember to grease before putting batter in. A brush works well, you just need to make sure you get all the surfaces. Sprays work well too, but I find that i get the spray over more than just the griddles. I tried a couple of the recipes (Classic and Classic Buttermilk) and they worked well. You can easily make a small batch, but I find it easier to make a larger batch and freeze some for use at a later date.
