Owens Corning QuietZone Acoustic Batts are acoustically designed to control noise transmission between rooms. They absorb sound vibrations within the wall cavity and provide excellent in-place acoustical performance. They are as easy to install as regular insulation and are ideal for home theaters, family rooms, home offices, kitchens, bedrooms and laundry rooms — wherever noise control is needed.

The total covered about 1200 square feet. I used mainly for sound proofing.

They cannot be used in exterior walls because they are not properly tested or labeled according to model building codes. NRC ratings are assigned acoustic insulation that is left hanging and exposed on a wall. It is the measure of how sound waves within a room are absorbed upon striking a surface. QuietZone Insulation is not measured for NRC as it is designed to be installed in a finished wall cavity, behind drywall or sheet rock.
