Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jonathan 11 - there are 11 pieces in a bag!!!
If Home Depot wants us to use their website to preshop, then they have to tell us how many bats are in the packaging. Since they didn't - I am telling you. There are 11.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DeeN Smells awful - thought house was on fire
My contractor installed this today in my bathroom. He had also redone some electrical in there. When I walked into the house I thought something was on fire. I opened the bathroom door and looked for flames. I was going to call the fire department, because I couldn't see what was burning. Luckily, before wasting the FD's time, I went into the garage. The extra fiberglass insulation was in there and it smelled like fire. So, I googled smoke smell fiberglass insulation. I found that I'm not the only one who has had this problem. I've turned on the bathroom fan, opened windows and put a large fan to remove the smell. If it's not gone by tomorrow, I'm having it removed.

This review may sound like a broken record, but that smell is just awful. Had to return. I am a Home Depot guy, but sorry HD...had to go to your biggest competitor and purchase Johns Manville. No problems there. Garage is toasty warm now...and doesn't smell like burnt candy.

I bought these and left them in my install area for 3 days. I came back from travel and the whole area smelled of something burnt. This was without the outside wrapper removed. What would it be like if I had unrolled and installed the product?

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MattyO Smells - Burnt Candy
I read the reviews on this insulation prior to buying and figured they had to have corrected the smell issues by now..... nope. Insulation sat in my basement for 1 week still in the packaging and the entire basement stank like burnt candy. Thank god I didn't install it. Took it all back and went to HD's competitor for insulation.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JDandC Odor is overwhelming. Something is wrong!
If you purchase this product, make sure it does not have the burnt caramel odor. It does not go away. Owens Corning should have never shipped this product knowing that it simply stinks. Not good.

The product might be what it says it is, but it does stink. The smell simply wont go away. I used this in my shop ceiling and it has been in there for 2 months now and still smells like burnt candy. I am about to insulate my entire shop walls. I am going to use John Manville insulation. It's made without formaldehyde which makes this stink. Home Depot's competitor carries the JM product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by stinkyinsulation They changed their glue and it SMELLS HORRENDOUS
This is the first review I have ever written, but I'm writing it because this product is horrendous now. We have used Owens-corning insulation to insulate our entire house, including the blown in attic cat kind. THAT was with the OLD formula. This new Ecotouch Pure Fiber Technology insulation is HORRENDOUS!!!!!
We tried to insulate a wall with it last night, and right out of the bag it has a HORRENDOUS ODOR--smells like burnt glue, burnt chemicals, or burnt cotton candy, like a burning sweet smell that is overpowering--very, very strong. My husband used 3 batts, thinking the smell would dissipate. NO, it DOES NOT! It started to make him sneeze (with a mask on AND windows open). Then I started to sneeze (four doors down the hall, with the doors closed). Then, my son started to sneeze in his room (while he was asleep AND two doors down with the doors all closed!!!)!!!
We had to rip out the three batts that he had done and move all of the unused insulation to the garage. It was so strong of a smell that it started to make my throat close up on the right side. No, I am not being dramatic.
Whatever they have done, it is horrible, and I think they know it. I called Owen-corning to ask what on earth they did with this "new technology" to make it smell sooooooo strong that it makes your nose burn??? The guy who took my call was NOT surprised at all. I am sure that he has received other calls. He didn't act surprised at all that our insulation (two different packages, by the way) both smelled like this. He just apologized and explained that I should take it back to Home Depot.
Well, it is piled into my van and I am driving it back with all windows down and a mask on my face. I will NEVER buy their product again. I can't believe this made it through any level of quality control. And, as I mentioned, we used the same size/type of batts for the entire upstairs of our house, except this one last room with we are doing now. It is very obvious that they made a change and that their new techology has created a terrible product. We are going to buy another brand from the other home improvement store. I hope this helps someone. Thank you.
