Answer:
Filling the basement ceiling cavity with fiberglass insulation is a great way to help dampen sound transmission between the two levels. An R30 insulation with 9.5 inches of thickness and 19.25 inches of width may be slightly larger than what the cavity can accommodate. Because of this, the product may need to be cut to size or compressed. It will offer acoustic benefits as well as thermal protection. Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install After many years, finally put insulation in attic over garage. Very easy to install. Although there wasn't a lot of dust, definitely recommend a respirator and of course eye protection. Cut with scissor. Only con is that I wish the 24" was packaged in a smaller batt or a roll. Didn't want half a batt left over with no other use, so I bought a batt of 16" and cut in half to fill up the 24" joist spacing. Worked well, but extra work. March 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Insulation Its insulation the paper backing is thin and the tabs not that strong when attaching to studs. The product is standard for insulation March 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by used to replace old insulation in remodel replaced our old insulation in a room we are remodeling with this product and could tell a difference in the temperature in that room immediately. was the hottest room in house and now may be the coolest. will use again in next remodel June 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Think pink Pretty economical, goes a log way on 8' stud walls. Typically day readings from Spring 2012: HardiPanel inside surface on west wall runs 130F on full sun afternoons. After insulation, kraft paper inside surface matches inside shop temp of 82F. May 1, 2012
