Owens Corning Fiberglass is packaged in batts and rolls so there are convenient options for installers to use in different applications. Some prefer to use rolls in the attic because it is fast to lay it down between the joists. Some prefer batts for walls because the pieces are easy to handle, carry, and friction fit into place. 2X8 roof joists on 16" center. Do I want rolls or precut. Do I want face or non faced. I'm installing new roof. Removing all shingles, removing all plywood. Installing new insulation. This application will go right up against the sheet rock on my ceilings as there is no attic in between the ceiling and roof.

You can use insulation rolls or batts for this application and the decision to use one or the other is normally the installer's preference. The requirement to use a faced or unfaced product is determined by local building codes. Please always consult local building code requirements about the need for vapor barriers and necessary R-values.
With your specific ceiling construction, you should ask yourself if you want to ventilate the underside of your roof with an air gap between the insulation and the roof decking. If that is the case, please consider using an insulation with a thickness that can ensure a one-inch air gap between fiberglass and roof decking like the R22. If you do not want to consider a one-inch air gap and have no need for roof ventilation, you can use the R30C insulation that will fit snug within that cavity space.
Again, I suggest you determine your local code requirements pertaining to the recommended R-value and vapor barrier placement for your region. Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Percent Great item installed in half of our crawl space can already feel the difference with my fireplace. October 15, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No Quality Control These batts were awful, the facing was a nightmare. Approximately 1/3 of the batts had the facing all wadded up and glued together or the side staple strips were gone or glued together. Many had large blobs of dark pink hard areas on the fiberglass side. Several did not "fluff" back up to anywhere near the correct size. It probably took me twice as long to install these due to having to straighten the facing. The 2/3 that were made correctly installed easily. Glad I didn't buy the ceiling insulation at the same time, I'm going to try the competitors brand. April 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WOW what a difference I insulated my basement for a permitted finishing project for code requirements in 2009, this was the first time I had used insulation and I didn't care much for it....so when I had an issue with my water heater that forced me to replace about 100sf of insulation in the basement this Summer I was not looking forward to the project. I went to Home Depot, picked out my product (R-19 faced) and carried it home expecting the itch and dust. But WOW, this new Owens Corning insulation was way different! Because it was a small job I didn't wear goggles or long sleeves, I did wear gloves and a mask. I was surprised that my arms didn't itch when the job was done. No itch, very little/no dust, and it even smelled more pleasant...I distinctly remember the awful smell of the old insulation. I give this an average value because of the price, excellent on quality because of my experience. I price shopped and the other stores were the same/more. I also noticed that different manufacturers have different sq ft quantities in the bags...I recommend being careful and always look at the sq ft price, not the bag price! July 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great in my floors I installed this insulation in my floors last year along with the AttiCat loosefill in my attic. The product was easy to use (easy to cut) and my project only costed me a few hundred $. My utility bills went down and my home is more comfortable. July 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what you need for the job Good insulation. It's easy to install. Not to itchy. All in all gets the job done. Good for its R rating. May 20, 2013
