Customer Questions & Answers

Can the fence panel be removed after installation?

From the looks of this bracket it appears that removing a fence panel would be a fairly simple thing to do by removing the two nuts on the bracket. Has anyone tried removing a panel once this has been installed? I would like access to the fenced area with wheelbarrows and other small equipment in the future without having to put an additional gate in my pool area.

will these work on 1 7/8 inch posts

Asked by: Apple
I just finished putting up around 50 of these, all on the 1 7/8" posts, and they fit, but are not quite 100% tight, although they only will move a tiny bit when slammed with a tool. Once the 2x4's are attached, they should be fine. I was not able to shift them up and down at all, so they should work just fine for my needs. Once the project is completed, I will update if there are any problems.

We have an existing wood fence with round metal posts that we want to clad in wood to cover the unsightly posts. Is there an attatchement we can use for the posts to accommodate the wood attatchement to square them off?
Asked by: Ray
If I'm understanding your current fence situation, you are going to slip these brackets on your existing poles and point the flat bracket outward. I think you are looking for something to help you attach the sides. If that is the case, I think your best bet would be to run some wood strips or blocking on the existing wood fence to provide a stop for the side pieces. Glue, staple or nail the blocking and it will give you a place to attach the side pieces.

We did not want to remove the fence but wanted something that could block the view/noise from neighboring yards and the street. These brackets allowed us to put up a wooden fence over the chain fence without having to remove the old fence. My wife and I are doing this ourselves and going one fence section at a time. The first section took a little longer as it was our first time working with these and we started at one corner, but things progress more smoothly as we go. Our fence poles are roughly 10' apart so we use 3 brackets per pole with 2x4 supports running between the brackets.

They were ready for pickup quicker than advertised and worth the relatively short wait. These brackets are a better product than the Simpson PGT versions in my opinion- sturdier and cheaper per piece. Assembly is dead simple and the package includes the lag screws to attached to the wood. I used mine to attach the boards vertically, but these would also work just as well with horizontal rails.
