How many panels do I need to cover a rough opening window 103" x wide by 63"

How many panels do I need to cover a rough opening window 103" x wide by 63"
Asked by: Hogcaller1
Hi Hogcaller1. Thank you for your question. Each POMA Aluminum Hurricane Panel comes in a 15 in. x 68 in. & in a 15 in. x 44 in. panel. You will need 7 of the panels to cover your window opening. You will have about 4.2 extra inches, 2.1 on either side of the windows. Better to have a little bit extra than to have it too short. http://www.homedepot.com/p/POMA-15-in-x-68-in-Aluminum-Hurricane-Panel-2000P068/202385858 You will also need the POMA 146 in. Aluminum Stick Stud Angle for Mounting Hurricane Panels. The mounting bracket must be firmly attached to the structure before the panels are attached. http://www.homedepot.com/p/POMA-146-in-Aluminum-Stick-Stud-Angle-for-Mounting-Hurricane-Panels-2090W002/202385866?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal1_rr-_-202385858-_-202385866-_-N Contact your local Home Depot for information about installation by our local professional Installers and Handymen. Will Home Depot have to custom order special sizes to accommodate different window sizes? Or do I have to settle on the standard sizes the store sells? I would like to have them fit my house not look like an after thought.

I bought the 68inch panels then I drilled holes in panels at correct height and installed. I needed to add several washers to move panels out from trim piece because window molding was raised about 3/8" from trim. I used their special lags with wing nut threading and wing nuts. I wanted to prevent snow and ice from falling from roof onto abnormal snow pack build up and sliding into window on bottom floor. looks like a good solution, but I will re-check after spring thaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These Are Shutter Panels. What More Do You Want Big pieces of metal. Exactly as described. Arrived quickly. I don't get too excited about bent aluminum with holes in it. But, why not five stars because it's exactly as described. - Used to replace some that vanished. Drop-in fit.
