Tool platform attached to legs?

I was wondering about adding a 1/2in.plywood platform to the legs. I was thinking about a 1 in. tublar bar across each front leg to each back leg and sliding a piece of wood across these 2 bars which would be bolted to the legs. The wooden platform piece could easily be slid across the 2 bars making a nice platform to hold other smaller tools like a drill, tape measure, etc. Would the legs close properly with the 2 bars attached? The small weight on the platform should not be an issue I guess since the stand is rated for 500lbs.

The legs collapse individually into the base of the stand with press to fold buttons. Mounting anything of a permanent nature would prohibit you from folding the legs down for easy transport.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A light, minimalistic portable stand that does what you need it to do After looking at the more rugged and expensive portable wheeled stands, I was put off by their weight and cost. The Portamate stand had all the features I wanted yet was significantly lighter negating the need for wheels. The saw is easily disconnected from the stand and the legs fold up quickly. The only drawbacks with this, the most affordable stand, is that the leg heights aren't adjustable for leveling and the pivoting leg joints look vulnerable to torque damage though this is entirely hypothetical. Just take care deploying and retracting the legs and the joint should be fine. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed I purchased one of these about 9 months ago for my Hitachi 12" miter saw. I liked it so much that bought another to mount my Dewalt planer on. I like the fact that it has the supports on the ends so that I can work with larger pieces and give that support you need for planing without kerf. The quick releases make it easy to remove your equipment and breakdown the stand in no time flat. Love it! September 13, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent table The table is heavy-duty, but light enough to move easily. Excellent choice for the miter saw I bought. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stand Picked this up online on sale. It took about 10 days to ship to the store. Great value and works well. Sturdy, nice folding legs. September 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase It was easy to assemble and works well with my saw. August 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PortAMate Miter Saw Stand PM4000 I have wanted to get a miter saw stand but the cost kept me from buying one. After see this one and the price was right I decided to get the Port A Mate PM4000. It was easy to assemble and only took about 10 minutes to take out of the box and assemble. The only tool you need is wrench or socket to bolt the miter saw to the quick release attachment. It has a quick mount tool attachment that is really good. Once you bolt your miter saw to the quick mount tool attachment to the saw when your work is done for the day, all you have to do is press on the two quick release handles and the miter saw comes off the saw stand and you are ready to put the miter saw away. Press the four snap pin release for the four legs and you are ready to put it away. When you are ready to start the next job click the easy snap pin on the 4 leg out and put on the miter saw that was attached to the quick release handle and you are ready to go. It comes with 3 sets of different size bolt to connect the miter size to the quick release attachment. The unit is sturdy and doesn’t flex when you have the miter saw. At first the high seem higher than I used to. Once I started using it I actually like the high. I was using before two saw horses and plywood. The only negative thing would be a small tray when I could put my pencil, tape measure when I’m cutting the pieces of wood. Besides that, it’s a great product. You will not go wrong if you purchase. It comes with a one (1) year limited warranty September 2, 2013
