With the plastic drum, you must stand behind the mixer and dump from standing in the rear. With this mixer you can stand along side the mixer and assist with the dump of mixed concrete....

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Poorly Packaged I am not an expert on this type of equipment since I am less than a novice at cement work. That said the few times that I have used my new mixer it has worked very well. So far I've used about 15 - 90 lbs. bags with no problems. One of the few problems I have had is when I opened the cardboard box that the mixer was shipped in. That's when I found that the slotted track that runs around the equator of the barrel where the gear that spins it around was bent due to being damaged in shipping. I could have driven the 40 miles round trip to he nearest Home Depot and taken it back and then waited another week or so for the next one to show up and chance that it would not be damaged as well, or I could get out my big lead hammer and nudge it back into shape. It seems to work fine, but it does make some noise when that area passes over the gear on each rotation. Not that big of deal for me. Each time I've used it I've cleaned it up and it still looks like new even inside the barrel. I called Home Depot and told them about the damage and they issued me a 10% credit back on my credit card. So Bottom line, like the subject line reads "Great Product Poorly Packaged". That's why I have only given it 4 stars rather than the 5 it might deserve. One other problem I had was with the handle that you use to move the barrel around with. When I was putting this all together I had to also re-work the bottom of the handle where it rest against the axle. There is a spring that needs to be inserted into the base but it was bent and I had to also do some hammering with a large screw driver to get it from an oval into a circle. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. May 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by " Hassels " Well got this mixer from Special Buy of the Day. I have a couple issues with this mixer, but lets start with the good points. Quality of material & motor is fair & value is ok or fair to give it the benefit of the $. The issues that came up are, you can not unload cement from drum into wheelbarrel because of center lower bar & is to low for wheelbarrel. So you must empty drum by hand. 2nd issue, is that 5gal. bucket's are not wide enough to catch cement you are unloading from drum. Tried many items to unload into but all were not wide enough. I am mixing concrete to Use, not waste on ground!!!Sorry to say, I would Not recommend this item to anyone. Lesson learned.... UC May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for homeowners! This mixer is awesome. I am a homeowner and had to build a 700ft fence which included 51 posts. The barrel mixed 2 bags of 80lb concrete at time. It only took 6 hours to set all the posts. Made my project much easier. It will definately come in handy for other projects around the house. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Mixer Assembly is a challenge. Pictures and descriptions are not accurate enough relating to the inside mixing paddles and there is an o-ring the directions do not address at all. There is two flaws with the machine: 1. The assembly that connects the drum rotating wheel to the frame is molded plastic and in my opinion it needs to be metal with all the cement weight it has to bear. With three 80lb bags it is very stressed so I have reduced my mixing capacity to two bags at a time.Major bummer there but the weight reduction as far as working is easier to manage actually. 2. The wheels are also plastic and are loose on the axle and held in place with a cotter pin. It make moving the machine difficult if the terrain is not level and most constructions areas are not level. The extra HP motor is awesome and it does mix well and I would purchase it again In one week we mixed and poured over 10,000 pounds of concrete and it definitely saved us time.. Bought on sale price and it is worth the $299 but not worth $439 October 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but... The upper drum arrived dented but I was able to bend it back. I had to take it back apart after a water test and add silicon to the rubber seal. September 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small mixer I was able to but this on sale for $300.00 delivered Well worth it ideally works mixing 1/2 a bag of Portland at a time (+ sand and gravel) was able to continuously mix 18 bags Nos issues except it is better to unload when placed on cinder blocks April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little mixer for home use The cement mixer came as a delivery. The box was basically destroyed but all of the parts we there. We put it together in fairly short order and used it the next day. We used 60 lb bags of ready mix (2 per batch) and it worked great. We mixed 34 bags of concrete in just a couple of hours. You probably wouldn't want to use this mixer for heavy construction but for home use it will do the job of saving backs. March 1, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Caution-Cement Mixer The cement mixer was easy to put together. Seems to be a heavy enough built unit. The mixer makes a grinding noise where the gear runs the tub. The tub is out of round so it makes the grinding sound about every half turn. Called the company about 4 times before getting someone that would give me an answer. As I thought, they recommended greasing the gear and the track that it runs the tub on. That did not help. I will live with the issue as they said it will make that noise. If that is the case, then I would not recommend buying this unit if you are looking for a smooth running and fairly quiet unit. I suspect that a sale price was put on the unit to move it out of inventory with this defect. September 22, 2015
