I would have given this five stars but I had a pretty major issue with it upon arrival. This is the first time I've ever used a device like this. After assembling the hoist I tried it out and noticed it only went up to about 8 feet. I have 9 foot ceilings so I was pretty disappointed. Double-checked the documentation and the listing online and it said up to 11 feet without any attachments. Then I realized the issue was that the telescoping section was stuck inside of the base and wouldn't break free. Called the manufacturer and asked how to resolve this. They said they'd never heard of this and recommended I contact Home Depot for a return. I wasn't satisfied with that response as I was planning on working on my project over the weekend. I then noticed this hoist is very similar to all others so started looking at documentation from other hoists and noting how they operated. Sure enough I discovered that a cable was routed incorrectly over one of the pulleys and that was causing my problem. I took everything apart and rerouted the cable. Lubricated the assembly and it has been working perfectly since. It is a real help and quite stable and strong. I would have given this hoist rave reviews if the vendor would have done more stringent quality controls to make sure something as obvious as this was addressed before it got to the customer. But instead I had to spend a couple of hours figuring it out on my own and their customer support was no help at all. Glad I got it fixed but could have potentially delayed my project.

The fit and finish are excellent. The instructions need some help, however. The part names shown in the instructions and the step by step instructions do not match. If you are not careful on initial assembly it is easy to get a finger pinched or cut quite easily. For transport I had to tie the assembly with the hand-wheel on it with rope to prevent it from becoming another finger pincher. The locking device that holds the assembly together requires a wrench to lock it. A design change to have some form of cam lock to perform the same function would make use a bit easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product! I bought this lift because why rent for a week when you can own for a lifetime? First off this product is awesome! It assembles and disassembles quickly which has come in handy while I remodel my basement. I am able to put it together and use it when I need it, then tuck it in a corner when I need it out of my way. I have used this to lift drywall, metal channel, a Jet air filtration unit and so far it works great. My parents in there 70s are helping and have no problem operating the lift it really does make easy work of everything. My parents do struggle with the disassembly the parts are kind of heavy. My wife who questioned the purchase now understands why I wanted it and am going to keep it forever.

The hoist does it's job, however, it doesn't life the drywall evenly due to poor design. While it is nice the panel can be rotated when the hoist has been raised, the arms holding the panel swing making placing the drywall into place a bit diffucult. Additionally, I would be cautious of ordering from Home Depot as it was obvious the hoist had been previously used, placed back into the original and returned. Upon arrival, the box was destroyed, much of the packing material was missing and the hoist had dirt and debris all over it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well thought out design. My drywall guy have me a estimate of 1200 just to hang my space. I decided to do it myself and use a small portion of the money id be paying him, to buy this lift and have it for future projects. It took me awhile but I got at 40 12ft pieces hung completely by myself. With this lift you can get all your joints precise. The other drywall guy who finished mudding and sanding the space said it was one of the better hanging jobs he had seen. Very happy with the lift and my finished man cave!

Purchased this in order to complete a ceiling project and although I was somewhat skeptical regarding this particular drywall hoist I still purchased it because I considered the price was right for my budget. Immediately upon receipt I started to work on my project and the hoist performed outstandingly. Easy to use and move around tight spots.

Should have owned one a long time ago. Last set of offices I installed ceiling drywall by myself easier than previous ceilings with help. Doesn't really need instructions it was so easy to assemble. Looks well made only time will tell about durability

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Drywall work Works great. Been renting for a while but have a very large job and needed it. Smooth operation all around. The folding hook supports seem like the could be either larger or less play when putting the drywall on the tool. Also would be nice to have the dolly cart to transport it.
