Answer:
Yes you can, however they will not be as sturdy due to the bend in the metal bar that the shelf sits on. Also it will be hard to go up and down if you put it up to high. What I did was cut a piece up 3/4 plywood and a couple of U clamps ( from home depot) and used the metal shelfs on the 1st and 2nd rung. This also helps to make it more sturdy. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Though it may technically be possible, I would definitely not recommend it. This is a light-duty scaffold, with a small base and low weight limit... Basically good for painting a bedroom, installing a light fixture, etc. If you need a higher reach and value your life, I recommend getting a heavier-duty unit.

Answer:
There are two platforms that are approximately 40" x 9". they slip on-off of the side rails as you desire. When the unit is assembled with its wheels, these rail heights are approximately 11", 22", 33" and 44"

I would like to use this outdoors alongside house which is on an incline. Can the wheels be locked in place so that it won't move or roll? Is it safe for use on uneven ground?

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Manufacturer needs a tape measure. Received item and immediately returned to store. The box itself is not even 4 feet long, and the width of the unit is not as advertised. The in store model is a good one, and I now have two of those made by Werner. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by almost okay the packaging was totally crunched-four of the rubber insert cushions were either lost or ruined-I will call buffalo co as soon as I get settled in in my new home! Hope they replace the parts. July 26, 2016
