Answer:
Yes. This drywall is is what we normally use for bathroom ceilings, including the shower and bath areas. We also use it on our bathroom walls, except the walls of any tub or shower surround, where we use cement board.

Answer:
None. If you need a moisture barrier, you're going to need plastic sheeting, not drywall.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by most fragile drywall I've ever used The corners of this stuff shatter if you tap it even slightly against anything. Most of the sheets I got even came pre-cracked. Do yourself a favor and buy the Georgia Pacific product or something better. March 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! Performs just how it is supposed to! I have 20 plus years Remodeling. This product out performs other brands that claim they are mold/moisture resistant by far! Always look for the Purple paper for M.R. needs. I purchase all of my Drywall at Home Depot. February 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It's drywall. Kinda boring :-) It does the job for which it's intended. It's drywall -- can't think of much more to say about it! September 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It's fine I am using this product for my bathroom as specified in the manufacturers specs. No problem. The specs say it can be used in areas above the shower or tub. It's not intended for areas getting direct water contact, true. In my personal opinion green board was never a good solution for this either. Though, it was allowed. When I was building, I tore out many rotted green board tub stalls. I think this was usually because the tile mastic was not uniformly applied. Just do a search on Goldbond XP drywall and you should be able to find the manufacturers site and specs. That said, local building authorities will differ on their interpretations. The first few sheets I got had some issues with the paper. It tended to peel more easily than I thought it should. The next few sheets were totally fine. November 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better then green board Great stuff. Used in basement. Green guarded for schools. Scores and snaps great. No fiberglass. March 28, 2013
