I guess I would recommend this product to someone painting walls that don't have years of living on them. I tried this in several areas and honestly couldn't see a difference between the areas I cleaned with it compared to those walls not cleaned up yet.
It has a pleasant scent, if you spray too heavily, it runs down the wall and you cannot get the drip marks off. I ultimately cleaned the walls with white vinegar and am in the process of repainting the whole first floor of my house.
Fortunately, I picked up a couple of gallons of Behr Marquis paint at the Home Depot and the walls are coming out beautifully; one coat of paint and the run marks do not bleed through.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by PJCC Spray - Wipe - Works, where household cleaners did not!
First time around this Paint Prep Cleaner did what a multitude of household products would not do.
What I'm pleased by, in the humidity of Florida, is it didn't smell. In my rush to remove the nicotine smell and appearance in a house, I did a bad job priming a door. The area around the door handle will not clean up with daily household cleaners. This prep worked, spray and wipe.
Second task I gave this cleaner was nicotine build up on a ceiling. It was less successful, even after spraying and letting it set as directed.
Recommended for heavy grime but not for nicotine build up. This is the first time I've used a store purchased paint prep before painting.

I used this to clean a kitchen ceiling and textured wall for painting. It worked well on the greasy grime on the ceiling and cleaned up the wall nicely. A couple of stains required more than one application as the instructions recommend, and there were a couple of scuff marks that it wouldn't remove that I will sand off .
It has a pleasant scent that doesn't linger.

In doing a kitchen project this cleaner really did the trick. I used it on scuff marks and it really did the job and when I went to prep by the stove, it really cut thru some grease that I didn't realize was really an issue until the cleaner starting doing it's job. Very pleasantly surprise. It's a good product & it does what it claims...so, that's always a good thing!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CarterB Removes enough of the stains and grease to not show through new paint.
The cleaner is very easy to use, just spray it on the surface you want to clean. It does not require any diluting.
It does a decent job cleaning in that it breaks down the big stains enough including grease so that they won't show through when you paint over them. While you can still see the stain from grease after using the cleaner it now allows paint to bond to it and the stain can be covered up.
The stains don't totally go away so this product isn't useful for cleaning if you're not going to repaint. It does its intended purpose though.

Needed something that would clean paint surfaces throughout the house. This fit the bill nicely! Quick and easy, worked well on marks made by kids, pets, and regular wear and tear.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by AussieLady CLEANS SURFACE WELL BUT DID NOT REMOVE GREASE
I have light color stained wood kitchen cabinets, and over the years they have become "worn" in appearance. As a result, my plan is to paint and glaze them as an update.
I ordered this PaintErase Prep Cleaner because it is supposed to remove all sorts of grime and my hope was that it would remove some grease splatters that the more conventional spray cleaners could not remove. The instructions on the bottle stated that for grime that may be difficult to remove, to spray the product on the surface, wait 5 - 10 minutes and then wipe off. It also said it maybe necessary to repeat that process a couple of times to successfully remove the grime. Unfortunately, despite several attempts and following the instructions above, this product did not remove the grease splatters. Sadly it didn't even reduce them.
Admittedly the grease splatters have been on the face of one of my cabinets for some time, and I realize the splatters have dried, which would no doubt make them difficult to remove. But as this product is a "prep cleaner" to be used prior to painting -- and the bottle says it can be used instead of TPS -- I had high hopes that with some effort, those grease splatters would come off. As that didn't happen, I will be falling back on Plan B which is to sand the face of the cabinets instead.
All of that said, while this product didn't remove the grease splatters, it did give the surface of the wood cabinets a cleaner "feel" so I can certainly understand why the product information states that it will promote a better adhesion of paint. I will probably sand the face of the cabinets to get rid of the grease splatters, and then give all the cabinets the once-over with the PaintErase Cleaner before I paint my first coat of primer.
