This product was exactly what I was expecting. I needed to put together some longer cables for a recent move, and it ended up working flawlessly.

I am a professional remodeler, but I bought this tool kit for a project at my own home where I was installing whole house Ethernet wiring. This was my first time using tools like this, and I had no experience. I used it to crimp on RJ45 male plugs and punch down female jack wiring. The crimper from the kit seems to be good quality and worked well. The punch tool worked well, but you had to push hard and rock it side to side some to get a nice cut on the ends that extended beyond the punch block. The tools were easy to use overall, and included a nice case. The wire cutter and striping tool also worked well, but seems cheaply made. I had to carefully adjust the set screw on it the first time to make sure it only cut the outer wiring jacket. One or two revolutions around the wire was enough though. Overall, the tools worked perfectly and were fairly easy to use. Lining up the wires for a male jack crimp is tricky though. It gets easier with time though! I would rate this kit as suited for the "occasional user" because I don't think it is designed for long term professional use. I would highly recommend pairing this kit with a LAN tester to verify that your connections were a success, and that they were pinned out properly. I invested in the $50 Klein Scout Jr. tester, from Home Depot. Overall I highly recommend this kit, but I chose to rate it as a 4 out of 5 since I didn't think the tools are super high quality. The Home Depot listing for this product mentions "phone jack installation tool" which seems deceiving to me. It should include network wiring in the description. I did research buying the included tools as separate pieces too, and this kit seemed to be the better value.

Good for semi frequent work. It's a good kit to have a friend who owns one.

Great for homeowners completing their own installs. Instructions could be better for novices.

Bought this kit to build network cables for the home and it worked as advertised. It contains all the tooling you need for a range of cables but I used it primarily for cat5e cables. The instructions in the kit was adequate and helpful for my application.

For the DIYer, this is a nice kit to have for whatever data cable connecting you need to do. Wouldn't stand up to daily usage by a professional.

Used this to install some in the wall Ethernet and phone circuits in my house. No bad terminations, no problems. It does take concentration to line up the wires properly, but even with my big fingers I managed about a dozen terminations in a little over an hour. The including stripping tool works great, too. Highly recommended. I note that I bought some extra phone and Ethernet plugs with plastic covers when I bought the tool for a superior, in my opinion, plug. They are cheap.
