Product Overview

No need to live above a bakery to enjoy the warm aroma of freshly baked bread on a daily basis. Equipped with an array of user-friendly features, this automatic bread machine by Panasonic makes baking fresh, healthy homemade bread and much more easier than ever. Now anyone can enjoy the simple pleasure of freshly baked homemade bread without the time-consuming efforts normally associated with kneading and baking bread. Just add ingredients, press a few buttons, and it takes care of the rest.

  • The bread maker mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes bread in two loaf sizes medium and extra large, plus offers crust color control with light and dark options to accommodate individual preferences
  • Its digital control panel with a large easy-to-read LCD display makes it simple to select the loaf size and crust shade, as well as the baking mode
  • Choose from five different modes: Basic, French, Pasta, Pizza Dough, and Bake Only
  • The Basic mode works well for a variety of breads, including white and whole wheat; French mode bakes up delicious French bread with a soft interior and crispy exterior--perfect for pasta night
  • Speaking of, Pasta mode makes several different types of homemade pasta dough--there's nothing quite like homemade pasta
  • Use the Pizza Dough mode for creating homemade pizza dough in just 45 minutes, or use the Bake Only mode when it's time to bake a cake for a birthday celebration or delectable tea breads to serve with tea when visiting with a friend
  • Even more, the bread maker allows for baking a variety of white or whole-wheat bread for slicing and slathering with butter and jam or for making healthy sandwiches to put in the kids' lunches during the week
  • Or, make bread dough for shaping by hand and baking in the oven
  • The versatile machine produces delicious results without the additives and preservatives found in store-bought brands
  • Best of all, the bread maker comes with a programmable timer that can be set up to 13 hours in advance, which means it's possible to wake up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked cinnamon-raisin bread
  • Or set the timer before leaving for work in the morning so that a warm loaf of rosemary bread will be ready and waiting after a long day at the office
  • Simply slice it up and serve with dinner
  • The bread machine also provides a unique dispenser that automatically drops up to 5.29 ounces (150 grams) of raisins, dried fruits, or nuts into the bread dough at just the right time for thorough, even distribution
  • When compared to other bread machines, the SD-RD250 turns out loaves with an even scattering of raisins, instead of a clump in one section and bare sections elsewhere
  • The handy dispenser can also be removed from the machine for convenient washing between uses.
  • Unlike other bread machines, the unit does not offer a viewing window
  • The absence of a viewing window creates a more even reflection of heat inside the unit, which offers the following three advantages: excellent crust, good rising, and even color
  • By using only the freshest ingredients and making choices from a variety of options, homemade bread can be an important part of a well-balanced diet--for both young and older family members alike

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good enough The machine has the basic function to me. But I'm looking forward to buy newer model to make more dessert. January 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst ever purchase this is my second machine. first was great. this is dreadful. December 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Healthier alternative to better testing bread. A+ First, this is an excellent product that serves awesome loaf of bread one after another… Highly recommend this product and we are very happy with it. Bit more details… we are family of four and used to spend sizable money in buying better quality breads from Wegmans and they makes great breads and many variety of it, but after a while, it was getting expensive so after much research and review we bought this machine last year. I know nothing about baking and I was nervous about it, but since first day of use, it won us over on how easy it is to use, consistency of breads and reliability. We’ve tried few different breads, but mostly we bake about 2-3 types of bread about 2-3 times a week. So far… 200+ loafs. We are at the point now that our kids don’t eat store bought bread any more. We haven’t tired baking fancy breads, cakes, jams or other baking goods in it and reading online, other brands seems to have more features and functionality so I can’t comment on how this compares to others…, but we are for sure very happy with it and recommend this product. Last months, we purchase two more of these for a family member and so far… they are enjoying it… November 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by make your own we bought this as a mutual gift for the holidays and have had it for three months now. the bread is excellent and as long as you follow the directions closely, it comes out perfect. we looked at other bread makers and decided on this one based on the reviews. after 90 days of use, i'm glad we picked it. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as the SD255 We had to leave a 240V Panasonic SD255 behind in Europe when we moved continents and hoped to pick up a new machine of similar specs here. This particular model is roughly analogous to the SD255, but has a smaller program range to it for baking. It also has the *supremely* annoying habit of dropping open the nut dispenser on *every* program. What this means is that heat escapes out of the oven via the open flap, ultimately leading to an unevenly cooked loaf. Quite why Panasonic would need to have such a marked difference in the machines operations is a mystery to me. Yes the flour types are different on the N American market (although not that much), however this still doesn't explain such an inane engineering choice. December 14, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun to use! Me and my family enjoy the smell of fresh bread in the morning and the timer delay function allows us to wake up the the wonderful aroma! March 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just to have old Panasonic Breadmaker for 10 years but decided to go with a newer model since the pan on old one after 10 years was start chipping. got this year later after warranty expired of course, KNEADING BLADE coating come off! Yes I do bread weekly, but I did that on old machine for 10 years as well. Quality is not the same as old one fr sure. December 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy with results Pros: It's much quieter than my previous breadmaker. I am very pleased with the texture and even consistency throughout the loaves, especially after I tried bread flour instead of regular flour. I also appreciate how easily the loaf slides out of the pan when finished. Cons: Sometimes flour stays in the corners of the pan when mixing, but I have good results if I manually scrape the corners with a rubber spatula while it's resting during the initial mixing. I wish there were more recipes, especially whole wheat. October 21, 2013
