Can it be mounted vertically in a wall and vented outside?

I am wondering if this fan will work properly if installed in an exterior wall space of a small bathroom and then vented through a wall rather than through the ceiling? I do not have access to the area above the bath ceiling to run any exhaust hose. Exhaust hose would be installed in same stud pocket with a short 1 foot vertical run (up or down?) Thanks.

Answer:
I don't see why it would not work. It may not be as effective as it would be on the ceiling but should be sufficient for a small bathroom. I cannot advise on stud pocket question

Answer:
From what I could see, there is no reason why it wouldn't work just fine as long as you have the physical space to fit it in there. The only potential for a problem that I can see is that the blower would bear sideways on the motor shaft, and could possibly wear out faster than a ceiling mount.

Answer:
Cubic Feet per Minute, the amount of air the fan moves. In a bathroom, this is very important to get as close as possible so you don't move all your heat out, but enough to move the steam out. Measure carefully'

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 51 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very, very quiet as compared to the 27 year old fan that it replaced. Also, it was easy to install...the template that was included made sizing the new mounting area easy. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well and a good price. Delivered promptly to home October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing fan This fan is so quiet and yet extremely efficient. It workes great in my bathroom and removes a lot of shower steam. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, extremely quiet Great fan, easy to install and extremely quiet! Nothing like getting out of a hot shower and the mirrors are clear. No more sweaty walls and ceiling should make cleaning day a lot faster and easier. Now I have to install one in my son's house. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Contractor recommended I ordered 4 of these fans for my new home build based on the recommendation of my general contractor. October 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Interesting, but with a catch I've seen other people mention that the fan never turns off for them. I've seen similar behavior, and I believe I have an explanation. My bathrooms are relatively small, and the AC vent is in the field of view of the motion sensor. I believe the infrared motion detector sees the different temperature air blowing out the vent as motion, and starts the fan running. If the AC cycles at an interval that's shorter than the timer on the fan, it will never stop running. I plan on trying to block the sensor from seeing in the direction of the vent, but I haven't tried it yet. (Actually, in one case it will even be tripped by people in the hallway walking past the door.) Time to start experimenting with different shaped holes in little pieces of paper. September 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best vent fan ever! This fan is so quiet, I can barely hear it. It is also very effective. Even long, very hot showers leave no steam on the mirror. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product for the price. This bathroom ceiling fan looks modern and is easy to use. Just recently had fan installed by professional and seems to work as advertised. Replaced fan that was at least twenty years, hopefully this fan will last as long. September 20, 2016
