Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DIYGuy I just installed this last week, but everything is fine so far. It did fit within the space of a 2 x 4 wall. I bought a plain old 4" to 3" reducer duct work piece for $5, and it worked just fine by bending the 4" end to fit on to the oblong duct coming out of the fan . You will need this to install the fan in a wall. It is definitely quiet enough; We don't notice it all when in the shower. I don't have any negative comments at all at this point.

My only reservation is that there is not the ability to exhaust down, only transverse and up.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fixit Good, Quiet, Slim Bathroom Fan
Bought for a bathroom (wall mount) retrofit and found the fan very easy to install and connect. Fits comfortably inside the 4 inch stud cavity and simply screws to the vertical stud. Runs quiet and has that even tone that suggests the bearings are going to last a long time.

The fan is just what we needed for a specific space in our remodeled bathroom. It is very quiet and I love that. But I am disappointed in the color. The description says "Color Family Whites" but it is far more beige than white and clashes badly with the white heat lamp cover in the bathroom. One of them will have to be painted, and I am not looking forward to trying to do a good paint job on the entire grid of a ceiling fan!!

I ordered a Panasonic fan as a recommendation from my contractor as being quiet. The fan is defective and makes a tremendous amount of noise. My neighbor has a Panasonic fan and you can hardly hear it. When I tried to order a replacement this model has now been discontinued. I ordered another Panasonic model and will return this one to Home Depot.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1950Cape Worked well in wall
I installed this fan in a wall and it worked well. The only issue is the size of the oval outlet exhaust. From what I can tell, the oval dimensions are different than standard oval duct work. A straight section of 4" ducting can be persuaded to fit the exhaust opening without much headache.
