The outdoor bench is good value for the price. However beware of the following: Only one side is "poorly" varnished. We felt it necessary to varnish the entire bench. (Not difficult; just time consuming, waiting for for it to dry in order to turn and varnish the other side.) It DEFINITELY takes two people to assemble the bench. Because the box was torn so badly when delivered, we thought a part was missing. Fortunately, the part was lodged in between the fold of the cardboard box. Additionally, we can't believe the package of screws didn't fall out through the boxes tear/opening. It literally was hanging by a "thread!" After the bench was completely assembled, and placed in the backyard, we agreed... For the money... It looks great!

Please look at the photos. Terrible experience with an online order. The box that came in to the store, the banding had cut through the box, which didn't have enough padding that was styrofoam that broke everywhere. The wood was light like maybe a pine and the finish was only on one side which was between the cardboard outside and the styrofoam.
I brought it home pulled one piece out and noticed the finish was not even done correctly. I bought some matching finish and also there was really not much weather protection on it so I bought some polyurethane to coat it. I got home and pulled all of the pieces and noticed the the very front piece for the seat was cracked.
I took it all back the bench,finish and poly. I was going to to let them order a new one but they had jacked the price up another $20 from $120 to $140 on a piece of junk that is made cheaply in China that needs a lot of work to make it even decent. I decided to not order it again.
You get what you pay for with this. The only good thing was the iron pieces. My review DON"T BUY IT you'll end up with more work to do before putting it together.

This item was purchased as a retirement gift for a co worker who loves to garden. It was also felt that it would be a lasting reminder of the 30 years she spent working. She loved it!

We used this in a park setting to take photos at my daughter's wedding. It was ordered and arrived sooner than promised. All hardware was there and my husband put it together in a short amount of time. It's now on our front porch being enjoyed by our family. Fair price and good product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Benchwarmer Very good purchase
This bench is absolutely lovely. Sadly, it arrived with a chip at the bottom of the back. While I am aware it is an option to return the bench, you need to know that an item such as this, that is extremely heavy, is not a possible return item for a Senior Citizen who could not possibly lift the item to return it either to the store or to the nearest UPS store. Instead, we chose to remove it from the box, carry it to the backyard piece by piece and put it together there. Because we are pleased in general with the bench and it will be outside all summer in the weather, we opted to take it as is My reason for explaining all this is that we searched every inch of the box in which the bench was shipped and there was no wood chip to be found. That would mean that the bench was not damaged in transport, but was sent already chipped. That kind of quality control is unworthy of Home Depot;

The bench was easy to assemble although it took two of us. It seems to be very solid. The wood had little or no finish to it so I sprayed the entire bench, metal and wood with a spray poly coat. This made a dramatic difference in the appearance.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Drummersgirl Little flimsy but pretty design
This bench has a pretty design, although it does come a little more weathered looking than I expected. Not too bad to assemble, the bolts they provided were fine, but the screws they provided for the two strips that adhere to the slats are very cheap and kept breaking. Luckily my husband had replacement screws of better quality that we were able to use. The bench was a little unstable until we put the back strips on. Overall it functions ok for my front porch and does add character to the front of my house.

This is a very cheap made bench if it is going to be used in a semi heavy traffic area it will not hold up. If its just going to be used for looks it will probably be fine. But if people are going to be sitting on it you might want to purchase a couple of Home Depot buckets and sit on these instead, it will last longer.
