Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The extra threaded nozzle is supposed to be used to hook up a handheld shower hose. If you are not using for that purpose you might want to replace the spout with a standard tub spout part #58485 without the adapter.

Rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad assembly When assembled on to the existing pipe, the spout leaked towards the wall. Upon the removal of the spout, I noticed it was coming from the plastic shower adapter assembly to spout. Luckily I had some weld putty and packed it inside the spout assembly to surround the plastic to metal connection. I decided to putty rather than return the item, as there did not seem to be another brand on the market place. I laid the puttied assembly in our Arizona sun for a few days and reattached the spout. Yes it stopped leaking. I would have complained to the manufacturer, however no web was noticeable. If you purchase a supply of weld putty along with this spout or with luck you find one that was assembled correctly the spout diverts the shower water as hoped. I rated the Ease of installation poor because of the putty used, otherwise it would be a snap to install. I rated the quality poor because one size did not fit all. I live in a manufactured home and had to slice about 3/8 inch off the spout casing in order for the spout to fit against the wall. The value rating would have been higher had the spout worked right out of the packaging as hoped. Would I buy it again? Only if no others exist on the marketplace. October 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very reasonable and convenient universal bathtab spout with the hand-held shower connection The product's aluminum adapter's diameter is too small to install easily. I had to use a hammer to install it on the 1/2 copper pipe. Prior to the installation, I watched Youtube to learn the installation process. The Teflon tape is included in the set and convenient. There is no major leak after thoroughly taping over the threads. The diverter works good while using the hand-held shower without leaking from the spout. Overall this Taiwanese product is good and the price seems to be right. December 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HORRIBLE! more water came out the bottom connector for the personal shower attachment than did the shower head August 11, 2015
