Answer:
I believe it can be used with stranded wire - can't think of a reason why it couldn't. You insert the wire into a slot that is tightened / cinched with a screw. I think the stranded wire would be tightly held by the tightened slot just as well as solid copper wire would be.

Answer:
It does not come with a fuse. It is strictly a female electrical plug - good for repairing electrical extension cords and the like.

Consider using the plug from another string of lights to replace the damaged one by cutting the wire several inches from the plug. Splice the wires together with these connectors:

Test the donor plug before you cut the wires to verify that the fuses are good.
I hope that this works for you.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The slate tiles I purchased from Home Depot were just the thing to finish my fish pond/bench. The beauty and durability of the slate tiles made the bench part of my fish pond smooth to sit on and strong enough to last for years. December 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 125-volt straight blade connector Generally works, does not get hot, and is somewhat self-explanatory. However, a round cord that is being stripped may be too big for the hole in which the internal wires enter. You might have to strip away the covering wire outside of the connector, which puts the three cords inside at risk. A larger hole would be better, even if there was a small flexible gasket or piece of plastic just on the inside to prevent water from getting into the wires. July 22, 2014
