Customer Questions & Answers

How do I know if I need front or rear flue?

Asked by: Bob
The simple answer is to look at the one you are replacing. Oil fired forced hot air furnaces have not changed significantly in the last few decades. So if choosing a replacement I would suggest something as close to the one you replacing as possible. In some cases I have seen people find a replacement that was almost exactly the same as the one they were replacing. This has made the change out easy. If this is a new installation I would obviously ask the installer what they prefer. The only substantive difference between front and rear is which one will be easier to vent into the chimney given the position of the duct work. In some cases it makes no difference but in others it would mean a lot of extra work. You are welcome to give me a call. I can lead you to the dimensional info that is found on the Heat Controller web site and we can discuss other questions you may have. Chris 978 651 3301
