Purchased these retaining wall blocks along with the matching cap stones to construction an outdoor fire pit. Lined up fairly well and the finished pit looks great.
These blocks are not necessarily recommended for this use, but so far they're holding up well to the heat and we've had a few roaring fires! No cracking or splitting even without a steel fire ring insert.

I am very disappointed in this product. The picture adervertised is nothing like the product I received. The advertisement picture is brown, the actual product is the same color as regular concrete, just plain grey.

I would recommend it as long as you know what your getting. When ordering this in the store the SKU number crosses to a Brown stone and the dimensions are listed improperly. The Savannah stone isn't even available. Also the old stones were made by Mutual Materials and these aren't. The depth is 6.5" the old stones were 8.5" These are listed as 7 ".There is a lot of inconstancy with this item. The narrower stone doesn't stack as well and when you get about 4 high it is very unstable until you back fill. Also the quality is poor IMO. There are a lot of broken back lips and faces with these. I never had this problem with the mutual materials stones. All in all the job will turn out alright but not what I expected.

I've used these blocks over the past 10 years for various projects--lots of low retaining walls to define by flower beds, and in combination with pavers to build steps. I'm currently working on adding 3 rectangular raised beds around my patio. My only problem with these blocks is making right angle corners--it takes 2 blocks for each corner and you really need to rent a LARGE wetsaw to cut them accurately.

These are so easy to use and they look so nice. At about $1.40 per foot, it is an affordable way to spruce up the yard and block lawn growth into your planter areas. The self locking lip enables you to stack these easily and makes for a very sturdy wall as high as you want to go.

This is a great product for the novice to professional! In a few hours my husband and I transformed our front entry. The stones are sturdy and hold well with their unique lip design. They have been through two winters and look great.
