Answer:
If you mean square foot on the face, 4.8 blocks are needed. One block face is approximately 30 square inches. So rounding up that would be five blocks at 1.21 each, Total $6.05

Answer:
I have always used them for my fire pits. They work great IMO. However, I've built some pretty large (oversized for my pit) fires and the negative draw back I found was they will redden. Though I didn't mind it at all. So if you purchase a lighter color be mindful of the reddening for the brick.

Answer:
You can build a fire pit with the Carlton Wall. There is no fire rating on these products, but it will tolerate an average flame.

Hi leon,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site.
These wall blocks can be stacked to create walls of varying heights. Dig your course, level it with sand or paver base, tamp it and place your blocks.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 28 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Small blocks great for low walls These blocks are easy to work with and relatively light weight. Break in half with minimal effort. Fast construction, built an 18 ft four course wall in just six hours. Color bends in well with many different house colors. Matching cap stones available at my local store. July 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ordered a full pallet in-store We needed a full pallet of these to build a small retaining wall and flower bed. The pallet arrived quickly and nearly every brick was in great condition. The ones that did have the lip chipped or broken were used for the bottom layer so it didn't make a huge difference for us. The color variation in the entire pallet was OK, although I would have liked them to be a little more mixed. As with any retaining wall, start with a good foundation and make sure the first layer is level. Everything else is pretty easy after that crucial step. We opted to go without a cap stone, but it would be nice to have that option if such a product was even offered in the same color/finish. April 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great and easy block to work with Wanted to add a block wall behind my house for a planting bed. These blocks were the right size for my project. Easy to work with, just make sure your first row is completely level, and the rest of the blocks should stack easily. May 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good, as long as you cherry pick I got some of these just under a dollar on sale (I think 98 cents), and the rest at the listed full price ($1.21). The sale price is a very good value. I had to do substantial cherry picking at the store to get all the ones I needed due to the lips breaking off. Unfortunately, they don't make dedicated wall caps for these so I used the wall caps for the larger ones but had an inch hang off the front and back (a full 2" lip was too much in my opinion). Def. get the larger ones if your job warrants it (12" I believe), but I recommend these for smaller projects. Pic included...I was able to do this with a 4.5" angle grinder and a chisel. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by these are great little blocks for small projects These blocks are the perfect size for small project, easy to set and move. I will definitely get them again. my only complaint would be order them online the price was higher than in the store for some reason so I had to cancel order and purchase in the store June 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product is ideal for DIY landscaping projects Pavestone was very easy to install and brick color fit right in with my overall color scheme and feel. Project went a lot faster than I expected because the pavers lined up without a problem and created a clean and maintenance free presentation. June 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Finding blocks that aren't chipped may be burdensome, but the intact blocks hold up well. It's a good color and gives a good look. Being a smaller block allows for more flexibility in the design of the wall, which was nice. Get some while you can! June 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Won't break your back .. or your budget! I LOVE that these are smaller, hence lighter than standard retaining wall blocks. I have some back issues, so lugging those bigger blocks from the store, home and to my area would do me in! These looked really nice at the store and even nicer once installed! I'm female, over 50 and can't lift a lot of heavy stuff anymore, but these are totally doable! I have a new house & needed to make a retaining wall for a slight slope in my yard, then build up the soil to level for planting. All the dirt, etc was just running down and onto the sidewalk to where you couldn't tell where the original border was. I had installed mow-curbing and it had become buried under the dirt. Once I got the dirt shifted, and started laying these .. on the mow curbing, since I'm NOT putting in any grass, it went really fast. It looks so much better than I thought it would! Very happy with the results so far. I'm having to use the wedge 'caps' that look very similar for a tight corner that won't accomodate a rounded look, and those stick out a bit on the inside. I don't care though, it'll be covered with soil ;) I've only gotten a small portion done so far, and am fortunate that HD is only 2 miles away. I just go a couple times a week for a new load to do a new section. It'll go really fast once I get this section done, since this one needs to be about 8 stones high, and as I go along the yard, it'll decrease gradually to only one or two to get a uniform height for the planter that lines the perimeter of my yard. I know it looks odd right now in the photo with the slope where it is and the dirt path between the wall and sidewalk. The stones are set on the mow curbing that goes around the yard, and so rather than just bury it and bring it out, I'm going to (eventually) fill that area with decorative stone in a nice pattern that I got the inspiration from on Pinterest (the new 'black hole' of the internet) ;) Once that is done in a few years, since as it goes around the yard the space is Large, it will be awesome!! At least it is in my 'minds eye'. I would have given 5 stars if there were cap stones to go with them, as well as the back edger wasn't missing from most of them. I just line them up carefully before putting the next level on, and am hopeful that by the time I'm finished with this, they'll come up with a capstone for it. I'll be writing to the company to strongly suggest it. Ya, we'll see how that goes. ;/ March 13, 2014
