Do NOT buy the kit! I went into my local Home Depot and bought the insert and the stones for HALF what he kit costs. Quite literally, HALF! The associate I spoke to about that was just as amazed as I was. Having said that: my son and I did the entire installation from scratch in a couple of hours and it looks great.
My "poor" mark in the "value" button is for buying the kit; just go in and buy the pieces separately.

I purchased the kit on line and picked up at my HD. Upon arriving home and assembling the pavestone fire ring I discovered the fire pit insert was damaged in shipping. So I returned it for a replacement. I looked at the rumble stone at my HD we well as fire pit insert and discovered I could purchase the pave stones and insert for less than half the price of the pave stone kit. So I returned the kit and bought the materials separately and built the fire pit. Pavestones are good quality and durable and make a very nice fire pit. The insert is like a large bowl that protects the pave stone from the heat and fire.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Malak Was a good choice
My only complaint is that the insert is literally a metal bowl with no drain holes, requiring drilling some holes, and then painting them with high temp paint. Also, the parts already had a touch of rust. But that is not a biggie.
Make sure you dig a hole at least 12" deep in the middle and fill with gravel from non-river rock. If you do not do this, your roots underneath could catch fire. It took about 17 bags of gravel and was the majority of the job. I did not even seal the stones from the kit, they are heavy enough to stay in place as long as no one sits on it. With the trapezoidal design, pushing on the outside wall actually tightens the stones in place.
One huge tip is to place the first layer of stones down temporarily and use that as your template to start digging the hole in the ground.

Our new Fire Pit has been a big Hit with all of our family and friends. It's bought our family closer together and our friends seem to come visit a lot more often. Very happy with the quality and appearance of the finished product. Found it quite easy to assemble and had the project completed in a couple of hours. I would highly recommend this product to anyone considering an out door fire pit. All of our friends are amazed when we inform them that my wife and I built it and not a professional contractor.

Putting the ring together wasn't too hard. Getting your area marked out and getting the first row down completely level is the trick. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows went fast. It took about 2.5 hrs for me to put it together. I went with the 4 row pit. 48 trap stones and 48 mini stones. If you have it delivered it's $499.00, I picked it up myself and paid half of that. I don't really care for the spark arrester screen, but the stone pit itself looks great.

My grandkids, ages 10, 8 and 6, put it together in about an hour. The big boy unloaded the truck and carried the blocks to the project site. The younger boy (a Lego expert) did the layout and placed all the heavy blocks. The little girl placed all the smaller bricks, and bossed the boys. It went together perfect on one try. On the 4th of July, about 100 people enjoyed roasting stuff after dark on what turned out to be a cool night. The firepit was the perfect centerpiece for the event. I'm thinking about getting more of them.
