Answer:
The Diameter of the extension poles are 5.5 inches.
If your hammock is a Pawley's hammock - then I wouldn't even worry about the diameter or fit since the canopy's extension poles are a universal fit for Pawley's Metal Hammocks stands.

The canopy extension poles come with these black sleeves - after you pop out the black plastics caps at the end of your existing hammock poles - You place the black sleeves at both ends of your hammock stand - where the extension poles will be inserted.
Your hammock's poles and the black sleeves align to align at the hook openings where the hammock metal hooks will be inserted. The canopy extension poles are smaller in diameter and are inserted through the hammock poles with the black sleeves. You will again have to align the hook hole openings and once you reinsert the hammock metal hooks it will keep the extension poles in place. (See pics) Read Less

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Mildew or Stain Resistant Bought this to add a canopy to my garden Hammock beginning of spring in 2015. I gave it 3 stars because this canopy is beautiful and really does the job keeping you cool and shaded from the sun. But, in less than a month, the canopy started forming stains and mildew from plant pollen, birds, rain...etc. I tried washing but stains and mildew persists. I won't be able to use again because I don't think I can relax while staring up at stains and mildew. Expensive for getting only one year of use. April 15, 2016
