Product Overview

A strong railing design begins with the post support - a key area in providing a safe and stable railing system. Our Aluminum End Post is firmly anchored to deck surfaces with a sturdy, attractive 4 x 4 base support. Unlike flat base plates, the die cast base of our end post provides a complete four-sided support to the 2 x 2 post and overall stability to your railing system. The Aluminum End Post is a fundamental part of the Peak Aluminum Railing - an attractive, durable and low-maintenance railing system. While other railings may warp, rot or decay, Peak Aluminum Railing stays strong for years thanks to its superior protection and lasting beauty.

In answer to a question by Tom, June 17, 2016, "Can these posts be installed on a concrete surface?" you answered, "We recommend a Hilti Kwik Bolt 3, 1/4" diameter x 3" embedment. Alternately, Tapcon concrete screw anchors may be used, 5/16" diameter x 3" embedment." The Hilti's are available in zinc-plated carbon steel, which will rust, and stainless steel with a stainless steel nut which will gall and soon be inseparable. The flat head style (like the ones you supply for wood) seem to be hard to find in small quantities. The Tapcons are similarly hard to find, and they are blue. Would one of these 4 (all available at Home Depot) do: 1) Blue-Tap BT4T31WH050 (1/4 X 3-1/4 white trim-head), 2) Kwik-Tap 46325.0 (1/4 x 2-3/4 blue polymer coated flat head), 3)Tapcon 24390 (1/4 x 3-3/4 blue polymer coated flat head), 4) Tapcon 24397 (1/4 x 4 blue polymer coated flat head)?

Answer:
Hi there Tjkupp. We generally recommend the Tapcon brand, as this is the brand that many of our customers choose for concrete or brick installations. We would recommend a 3" Tapcon screw, at 1/4" width.

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. Yes, the Peak Aluminum Railing system can be installed on a concrete surface. You would need to outsource the concrete fasteners and follow the manufacturers instructions and recommendations for installation. We recommend a Hilti Kiwk Bolt 3, 1/4" diameter x 3" embedment. Answer:
Hi DR, thanks for your question. You are correct, our standard rail height is 42" and meets the height requirements for necessary building codes. We do not offer a 36" system at this time. We recommend checking with your local building office to determine what the correct height requirement is for your specific application. Thanks DR!

Answer:
Hi Dan,
Thanks for your question. Yes, in this case you would use an end post to terminate the horizontal section, and then use a universal connector to attach to the side or back of the end post depending on the configuration of your stairs. We are always happy to help, so if you like, you can give a call toll free at (877) 883-7325 between 9 am - 8 pm EST. Thanks again Dan!

Holds up well to salt water provided you keep it washed off with fresh water. Excellent quality welded product. Loose one star because base screws provided were stainless steel, others were only plated steel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Product I decided to install the Peak Aluminum railing for a couple of reasons. 1. In the Pacific Northwest it won’t rust or rot as fast as wood or metal. 2. This system is modular, so replacing individual pickets is easier than replacing an entire section of fixed railing. Components I used in the installation include the 4 foot rails, 6 foot rails, 6 foot stair rails, 6 foot stair pickets, 6 foot standard pickets, Stair Posts, End Posts, Corner Posts, Mid Posts, Wall Brackets, Stair Brackets, Universal Brackets, Walk Through Gate, and Decorative Spacers. Installation was fast and easy for the most part. I started at a corner, and worked my around the deck. On the runs that attached to a wall, I used a Mid or End Post to mark the location of the wall Mount Brackets. Where I had a short section, I placed it near the wall, or near a gate to give the gate a little more stability. I installed a couple of 6 foot rails on one run, and decided to redo it with 4 foot rails. Most of the runs were such that 4 foot rails were easier, and I replaced the 6 foot rails for uniformity. Stair Posts, End Posts, Mid Posts, and Corner Posts were easy to work with, and the feel secure when installed. Stairs are a little tricky and difficult. Installing a 3 foot section of stair railing takes as long as installing 30-40 feet of standard railing. The stair raining will take about an hour and a half each rail. There are no instructions giving you advice on how to measure or cut the railing. I used scrap pieces of Bottom Railing as spacers, and everything worked out with a 42 inch measurement from the stair to the top of the Stair Rail. It will take a bit to measure and cut the spacers for the stair railing. Don’t get frustrated if it takes a couple of times to get the first one right. After that the rest of the stair rails are easier. They will all take about an hour and a half. Follow the directions for the Walk Through Gate. I used scrap top rail pieces to rest the gate on when installing it, and that provided enough lift to get the top rail of the gate to match the top rail of the fence rail. I used the leftover trex to build a Garden Bridge to hide the Septic access covers, and added the Peak Railing to finish it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I installed on concrete and used Tapcon+ 5/16". Had to be very precise with hole placement and made sure drill was plumb. Not much room for error with 5/16 Tapcon+'s but very strong installation. I've used 5/16" wooden dowels to make sure things stayed in place while drilling and screwing. Consult local building codes/engineer for proper fasteners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very clean modern look. This deck railing system was very easy to work with and assemble. All of the aluminum pieces were protected with a clear film to prevent any marring or scratching during installation. The glass panels were packaged extremely well. We used both the 6" and 66" glass panels. The 6" came with a different style insert system which was slick as can be. The 66" panels push up into a top hard plastic gasket then into the bottom one which was a bit trickier to achieve but once we got the first one in and figured it out, the others went very well. We are project driven grandparents of 7 and installed 8 - 66" and 5 - 6" sections in one day. We have received many compliments on the final look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality product that look great! This product was installed on a boat dock located at the bottom of a 200' bluff area, right along water’s edge. The project was delayed for some time due to conflicts and weather. The significance of speaking about weather is the fact that this product had set out in the elements in its factory packaging for almost 4 weeks before it was installed. After it was un-packed, the product looked as if it were brand new. Construction of this rail system is very simple. The video's on-line and from the manufacturer show in detail everything you need to assemble and modify this product. Very easy to custom fit, as was the case on this build. As it was completed, the rigidity of the rail system increased. With all components assembled as one, it is a very solid rail system that will and should last for a very long time. In summary: This is a great product, easy to install, great looking and very functional. It’s a winner for the weekend home "do-it-yourself" person or professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, easy to install, looks great The entire system using the 6 ft glass panels looks great, was very easy to install and is of good Quality. The system is solid and the 42in rail height adds to the view and safety of the rail system
