Product Overview

A strong railing design begins with the post support - a key area in providing a safe and stable railing system. Our Aluminum End Post is firmly anchored to deck surfaces with a sturdy, attractive 4 x 4 base support. Unlike flat base plates, the die cast base of our end post provides a complete four-sided support to the 2 x 2 post and overall stability to your railing system. The Aluminum End Post is a fundamental part of the Peak Aluminum Railing - an attractive, durable and low-maintenance railing system. While other railings may warp, rot or decay, Peak Aluminum Railing stays strong for years thanks to its superior protection and lasting beauty.

In answer to a question by Tom, June 17, 2016, "Can these posts be installed on a concrete surface?" you answered, "We recommend a Hilti Kwik Bolt 3, 1/4" diameter x 3" embedment. Alternately, Tapcon concrete screw anchors may be used, 5/16" diameter x 3" embedment." The Hilti's are available in zinc-plated carbon steel, which will rust, and stainless steel with a stainless steel nut which will gall and soon be inseparable. The flat head style (like the ones you supply for wood) seem to be hard to find in small quantities. The Tapcons are similarly hard to find, and they are blue. Would one of these 4 (all available at Home Depot) do: 1) Blue-Tap BT4T31WH050 (1/4 X 3-1/4 white trim-head), 2) Kwik-Tap 46325.0 (1/4 x 2-3/4 blue polymer coated flat head), 3)Tapcon 24390 (1/4 x 3-3/4 blue polymer coated flat head), 4) Tapcon 24397 (1/4 x 4 blue polymer coated flat head)?

Answer:
Hi there Tjkupp. We generally recommend the Tapcon brand, as this is the brand that many of our customers choose for concrete or brick installations. We would recommend a 3" Tapcon screw, at 1/4" width.

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. Yes, the Peak Aluminum Railing system can be installed on a concrete surface. You would need to outsource the concrete fasteners and follow the manufacturers instructions and recommendations for installation. We recommend a Hilti Kiwk Bolt 3, 1/4" diameter x 3" embedment. Alternately, Tapcon concrete screw anchors may be used, 5/16" diameter x 3" embedment. Read More

Answer:
Hi DR, thanks for your question. You are correct, our standard rail height is 42" and meets the height requirements for necessary building codes. We do not offer a 36" system at this time. We recommend checking with your local building office to determine what the correct height requirement is for your specific application. Thanks DR!

Answer:
Hi Dan,
Thanks for your question. Yes, in this case you would use an end post to terminate the horizontal section, and then use a universal connector to attach to the side or back of the end post depending on the configuration of your stairs. We are always happy to help, so if you like, you can give a call toll free at (877) 883-7325 between 9 am - 8 pm EST. Thanks again Dan!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean modern look. This deck railing system was very easy to work with and assemble. All of the aluminum pieces were protected with a clear film to prevent any marring or scratching during installation. The glass panels were packaged extremely well. We used both the 6" and 66" glass panels. The 6" came with a different style insert system which was slick as can be. The 66" panels push up into a top hard plastic gasket then into the bottom one which was a bit trickier to achieve but once we got the first one in and figured it out, the others went very well. We are project driven grandparents of 7 and installed 8 - 66" and 5 - 6" sections in one day. We have received many compliments on the final look. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice piece of hardware Nice design and easy to install. The whole rail system is well designed and my finished product has gotten a lot of compliments. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I installed on concrete and used Tapcon+ 5/16". Had to be very precise with hole placement and made sure drill was plumb. Not much room for error with 5/16 Tapcon+'s but very strong installation. I've used 5/16" wooden dowels to make sure things stayed in place while drilling and screwing. Consult local building codes/engineer for proper fasteners. March 8, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Difficult to assemble I have it indoors as a rail in the entry way. It is next to a step and there are no brackets available to attach to the step July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made, easy to install, looks great The entire system using the 6 ft glass panels looks great, was very easy to install and is of good Quality. The system is solid and the 42in rail height adds to the view and safety of the rail system July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Porch Railing project Easy construction with readable and good instructions. Materials of good quality and easy to handle. project is on scale for a DIY with some construction knowledge. Weekenders welcome. July 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice As a contractor this product was easy to install, sturdy and nicely detailed. It is a good alternative to having a fabricator custom build the railing. A decent low budget solution. A bit more labor than pre-built panels but easy enough. One caution - don't lose any screws it doesn't come with any extras. Best to have it delivered to store to pick up at your convenience. Had to block out a two hour window and they showed up with a 40' semi for a 90 lb. package. The driver was very courteous, professional and made it within the two hour window. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product and Good Value The horizontal railing, end posts and corner posts went up very fast and the finished project is very nice looking. They are sturdy enough for most uses, but it is aluminum and not steel. The stair rails took some extra planning to get the pickets planned out since they are on an angle, but after doing the stair railing on one side, the other side was just a quick copy of the first. I would use these again and will in some other projects I have planned. My railing plan did change slightly once I started building it and I was glad I used this system from HD so I could easily exchange and add a few pieces I needed to change without any hassle. It was also less expensive and better looking than composite railing. November 3, 2015
