Not compatible with standard faucet set!!

Disheartened with this bathroom sink. Tried to install a Moen faucet set but it just will not seat right at the bottom of the bowl, because this sink is so deep. Has ANYONE had success installing a faucet set with this sink-if so please share brand and size. OR do I have to have something customized?
Asked by: SaavyConsumer
Additional info: I finally got the Moen faucet set to fit the deep bowl granite sink but with some minor adjustments in the plumbing. My suggestions for anyone installing this sink, when you choose your faucet kit, get one that the spout extends toward the center of the bowl or you will have water splash around the faucet base and on the granite if you're not very careful to wash your hands well below the surface. Even reaching over to turn off the water, you drip water onto the granite and that's not such a good thing even if you've sealed the granite--just saying, something to consider for the style of faucet. Also I don't recommend you get one that rotates right and left. You're asking for splashes onto the granite with those. Sealing helps tremendously, but still, I don't like getting water near the faucet base even though I caulked those really well. And for goodness sake's do not tighten the sink too tight to the cabinet! Over time you may end up with a cracked sink. I didn't tighten mine much at all. It's not like the sink as heavy as it is is going to jump off the cabinet, and the back splash helps secure the sink in place itself. Hope others can learn from my experiences. Too expensive and nice a sink to make many mistakes and not be able to correct them.

Replacement Porcelain bowl

I ordered a Pegasus Model#25649 granite counter top with porcelain bowl sink about 2 years ago. The sink is now cracked. It says that there is a lifetime warranty on it. How do I go about getting a replacement sink bowl?
Asked by: Anonymous
I would contact the home Depot you recv'd your sink from and start there, make sure you have your receipts in hand when you start the process.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Much lighter in person I have not installed the product, so cannot comment on it. However, note the granite is much, much lighter in person. Wanted the colors to be the same as the online picture of the Montesol granite sample ($8) and was very disappointed. The sample shows dark, golden, warm colors. This piece of granite is now sitting in my garage while I wait for a different piece to arrive. I ordered the same size in warm beige and will compare the two and choose the darker to go into my newly remodeled bathroom. So, if you want a darker, richer granite, do not order Montesol, it's substantially lighter than the photo, in fact, it's not even close.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap but caveats Last few reviews done this way never got confirmation nor was posted. I got 3 of these in different colors (warning - some colors hard to match, but you have 3 months to return it to the store) Cheap: $117 (online clearance mid-12/11 w/ 10% discount.) Next alternative would have been Lowe's at $175. Fast: ordered on Friday, got on Mon. Granite sturdy but a lower grade than display with several small end of toothpick sized nicks and chips. Looks slightly pinkish in my white bathroom, better than the cultured marble top before, but the color is not comparable to a high grade granite. Caveats:water stains it several shades darker until it dries, even after I sealed it again; the bowl is so deep I couldnt install the previous faucet (plunger nut hits the bottom nut, cant tighten enough, mainly because my pipes were very slightly off (by 1/8")-it got to be almost perfect to have no leaks; instructions says to use silicone caulk-leaks so use plumbers putty; store clerks says to avoid cracks ie from sitting or standing on it, make sure edges are well supported, not just the 4 corners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good and something need to know I bought three from HD. They are very good. However there are a few things you better know in advance: 1. The granite is not sealed as HD claims. You will see the water stain until you apply granite sealer like 511 ($30/bottle at HD). 2. The backslash installation requires you to glue it to the wall or the vanity top. I am not sure if I can do it as I think it is not reversable. I still have not decided. 3. Most the tops come with wide spread 3 holes (or 8" apart) for facet. Wide spread facet is much more expensive than 4" FAUCET.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for price We bought this on sale around early December although it didn't get installed until early January. The install was quick and easy and so far we've been pleased with it. The one we received has a lot of what I'd call "peachy" tones mixed in with the brown. We ordered the matching sidesplash and it was more brown colors without the peachy tones. We used the sidesplash anyway because it's not so different that it just stands out. We do wish the vanity top was slightly less "peachy-toned" but compared to the almost-25-year-old builders' grade "formica" top and drop-in sink that we replaced, this looks very "high-class"! We installed on top of a new dark wood vanity with a new brushed nickel faucet and it matches well. (We did our other bathroom with the beige vanity top and was very pleased with it too.) As someone else noted, there are minor "nicks" here and there but nothing that takes away from the looks of it. We just assumed that was to be expected with granite and/or with granite at this price. We used 4 coats of sealer that was recommended by staff in our Home Depot (about $10 for a spray bottle that still has plenty left over). So far, no problems with water spotting. All in all, we think it was a very good value for the $ we spent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Montesol Granite Vanity Top I bought two 25" vanity tops. The sinks are placed in very nicely. However, neither vanity top matched the beautiful brown color of the online sample. One top was gray in color and the other top was orange in color. I wanted BROWN. It would have been too much trouble to return so I kept them. Neither side splash matched so I decided not to use them. The price was good, but I would not recommend. If you purchase these from a Home Depot store, have them deliver to the store if possible. Then you could look at the color and refuse if not correct. Home Depot has great customer service. I just didn't have time to haul the tops to a store and their choices for 25" are very limited. I will definitely replace but I was in a time frame for completion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap and good but caveats Great price: Got it for $117 (internet clearance-10% discount, free shipping) also brough one in Quaddro (green-brown) Dec 2011. Fast delivery: ordered on Friday, got it Monday afternoon. Exactly the same material, color and grain as the display sample in the store. Excellent workmanship, finishing. BUT: 1) water stains easily gives it several shades darker, even after applying a sealer (maybe needs several coats). 2) cheaper grade of granite - can see nicks and small chips here and there. 3) bowl is really extra thick on the bottom and deep so drain just barely fits; the Home Depot brand Builder's (cheapest one at $80) uses cheapo plastic drain didnt-too tight to put the popup screw cover on. 4) the instructions say to use silicone caulking, but that leaks - use plumber's putty instead. 5) store clerk says make sure the edges -not just the 4 corners-are well supported or else it'll crack when sit or stand on. I had to add some wood framing to my vanity as the top edge had a gap. Overall, it was $50-70 cheaper than Lowe's or discount places, the quality was good but with caveats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Last May I ordered this in a 30" from the store. It came in and looked exactly like the store display and the online picture with the deep browns. I decided to order its smaller borther in 25" for the hall bath and it came in looking lighter and more like the beige shown in the store and online. I know that natural stone is different based on which slab its cut off, but this was fairly dramatic and it resembled the beige color almost exactly but was listed on the box as montesol. I was for sure they just labeled it wrong, but after visiting the store and making a phone call they said it was the montesol. I still like it but was hoping to get it to be more of a match with the master bath.
