Yes. Installing on tile is a little more difficult. Hopefully you can locate the studs behind the tile. Yes. Installing on tile is a little more difficult. Hopefully you can locate the studs behind the tile. If you're intending to install it vertically in a shower or tub area that is tiled, hopefully the tiling does not extend to the ceiling so you can use a stud locator to find a stud then use a level (or a plumb bob) to find the location of the stud behind the tiles where you want to mount the grab bar.
Next, you'll need a drill with a special drill bit meant for tile. I've found in the past you have two options when drilling on tile. You can either put some painters tape on the tile and mark where you want to drill or you can take a nail and with a hammer very gently tap where you want the hole to be drilled just enough to break the surface of the tile so the drill bit has something to "grab". I prefer the nail and hammer but you must be very gentle or you will crack your tile. Either method keeps the drill bit from "skating" all over the tile and you'll never get your hole where you want it.
A few other tips - you may only be able to get one of the screws to hit a stud. In that case, make sure you purchase a longer screw that really goes into the stud and adds extra strength to the grab bar. The other screws that don't hit a stud can be anchored with a molly bolt or wall anchor. You will have to drill larger holes for those anchors. It will tell you what size bit to buy when you purchase them.

Answer:
yes, it can. It has enough mounting holes to mount in any position. This is brushed nickel and very sturdy. Just remember to use the proper mounting screws.

Antique Rope 24 in. x 4-1/2 in. Concealed Screw Grab Bar in Brushed Nickel-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from good quality and good price I purchaced this grab bar in 2 different sizes. I was very happy with the appearance, quality, and price. --appearance: this is much more attractive and sophisticated that most grab bars I've seen. (the medalions can be turned horizontally or vertically.) --quality: I definitely wanted something ADA compliant, for sturdiness and for "grabability" - that is my ability to close my hand around it, etc. The ADA rating gives me confidence of that. --price: at the time I was shopping, this was the least expensive of the ADA compliant grab bars -- others were about double the Pegasus price! --One down side: my installer found it awkward getting his tool into the available space -- but he did manage it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great Looks great but is difficult to install due to cover plate. If you insert the screws thru the hole in the center of the cover plate it is easier than trying to insert the screws from the edge of the cover plate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Product Nicely finished and not too thick to grab. Cover plate/flange swings mostly out of the way to drill in screws. You only have about 80%/90% access to most of the screw holes. Cover the cover plate/flange with a few layers of tape so you don't scratch it with the drill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy, tricky to install This thing is a little tricky to install because the cover plate that goes over the screws doesn't come off - you can only slide it out of the way a very little bit. Be very careful and patient so that you don't mar the cover. I used an extension on the drill driver to put the screws in so that the drill head didn't scratch anything. Once installed, it's solid as a rock!! And looks beautiful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tiles bath surround To make the install easier, I suggest you use a strong adhesive on tile like Loctite 3x average bonding strength.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very strong Very strong. A little difficult to install but I used a extended phillips bit and install was a snap. Oh by the way it looks great too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value. Does not look like an institutional safety item at all. Home Depot offered these grab bars at an outstanding price. I needed two smaller towel bars for each end of the bathroom vanity. These were cheaper than regular towel bars and have the added value of being safety grab bars. They look nothing like an institutional hospital grab bar so I'm very pleased with the look, function and price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These bars are beautiful We plan to use them as towel bars. They are not yet installed, but we don't see any problems happening when they are installed. We've gone through several inexpensive towel bars in the past years and felt these would be stronger and less likely to bend and fall apart. Getting them at this special one day sale price was amazing.
